After speaking to various people who work for Tesco and hearing what they have to say about Technica, I stay well away of anything of this make. There has to be a reason why they sell the stuff so cheap :?

You mean like the Bush model...

got the previous model from argos ebay clearance outlet for £124.99 for the bedroom, perfectly good quality picture for the price

i bought this around 2 weeks ago, its not the best but if you want it for the kitchen or bedroom it's good value for money - you get what you pay for.

I got one for my daughter it is ok for the price ,but the colour is a bit washed out .Then again it is 10X better than the bush it is replacing that she only got for xmas and was rubbish, which cost the same but was smaller with no dvd

how does this price compare to elsewhere tho?

it's about the same from memroy, however i received the £10 voucher & spent £45 worth of nectar points so that was the attraction for me.

It's a bit ugly isn't it...?

I believe Teknika don't actually make anything but are simply Tesco's own brand that they stamp on unbranded cheap chinese c*ap. In the past I've seen many an item on Deal Xtreme that I've also seen in Tesco's as Teknika, all be it at FAR inflated prices in Tesco!!

I think you will find it's not just Tesco.

If you did some research most supermarkets do cheap bedroom LCD TVs, with little price differences between them.

If you don't like Technika then also avoid UMC, Matsai, ProSonic and SwissTec, because they are ALL manufactured by UMC (Universal Media Corporation) Slovakia and all that differs is the exterior brandings.

Incorrect (as least as far as the TVs go) read my post above, they are all manufactured by UMC, Slovakia, rebranded, yes, but they are not unbranded chinese products, made in Eastern Europe (however I am sure most if not all the internal components are sourced from China or Korea, in fact UMC have used Samsung LCD Panels)

Technika, UMC, Swisstec etc are found in the likes of Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury, Makro amongst other places.

For a list of OEM goods from China that find their way onto Ebay and the likes of Aldi and Lidl just visit Alibaba.com, you can find most Tevion branded stuff without the logo on from that manufacturing directory.

H&R to OP,
just sneaked out today to grab one and a nice little thing it is!

Does as it says on the tin, nice picture, sound slightly tinny but no big problem for the bedroom.

Anybody want a Sharp 28" CRT?

I wasn't talking solely about TV's, just the brand in general. I must admit, I would have assumed the TV's were made in China as well. Well, I thought everything electronic or cheap was made there these days!
