Good for those that can't get freeview but for me, the point of freesat is the (limited) HD channels!

I agree, but there again I think you would struggle to get a SD Satellite receiver alone for £30, unless second hand.

I've no dish up at all so would any type of dish do,what sort of price would a compatiable dish be & from where ? & is it easy enough to fit ?

cheers guys

60cm dish, pointed at the same satellite that Sky is broadcast on, which is 28E, that is 28 degrees east of south, so find out which is the south facing wall of your house and judge 28 degrees east of that. From a satellite shop online or ebay, all you would need is a satellite dish, wall bracket an lnb and a length of satellite coax cable with a couple of fplug connectors, one to attach to the lnb, the other end to the receiver.

Just reserved one. Nice spot, thanks.

Great spot, reserved 2, get rid of sky!

reserved one. thanks.

Doh, I just picked up the HD one for £60 earlier in the week and it's exempt from the 30 day money back guarantee. Otherwise I would've returned it for this one at £30. I think I only pick up ONE HD channel. So not worth twice the price.

Despite being a Bush it seems quite good quality.

HOT DEAL.

This will not do anything more than your existing Sky Receivers that you will own once cancelled, they will give you more channels than this will.

seems simple enough, many thanks for your advice

I've got Virgin Plus HD through cable, an unused dish on the side of the house, and no aerial. So this makes perfect sense for my other non HD TV's in the kitchen and bedroom.

good price

Hi,can i use me sky dish with the freesat box???

take it back and tell them its broken;-) there was a common fault on these boxes where they turn them selves off for no reason -use this as an excuse

Have a look on your local "freecycle" group.... sky dishes are regularly given away !
Plus, if you DO scrounge one locally - then it should already be set up for the satellite "height" , all you need do then is either copy a neighbour for direction, or better still use a compass, and get the heading that way.... then it will only be a matter of "tweaking" until you crack it ;-)

There are currently three HD channels you can receive with a Freesat HD box, BBC, ITV1 (part time) and in non Freesat mode Luxe TV

If you forgo the Freesat EPG and now and next suffices, you can get an FTA receiver in B&Q or Screwfix with dish / LNB for around £40

Banned

Yes, but as long as you still have your sky box and viewing card they will still recieve the free to air channels, If you have the box but no card sky will sell you one for around £20.

Agreed, and it will receive more channels than this will.

I believe the sky card those changers every few years so thats another £20

Last change ( before the recent one ) was over 5 years.

Of course if your subscription card is the new white one and the subscription is cancelled, it will cost nothing.

This is no better than freeview without HD - you can pick up a freeview box for a £5 now

This is only useful if you can't get freeview, but as other person said, is no better than a Sky box which you probaly already have if you can't get freeview.

Whats the point?

cold

New ? from ..?

Will this box be compatible with iplayer on freesat?

you need a HD Box to get iplayer when its fully up n running think only humax box has the iplayer yet
and it might be these box's are reduced because if there the second generation box's there has been a prob in manufacturing and they miss some channels like E4/More4 etc

Yes - uses same satellite(s)

Just look in the paper or on the carboots or even fleabay for a old skybox as it will do the same as this box, why pay out £30 when you can do it cheaper.

Be different if this was a hd box but it's not.

Absolute bargain.,

heat and repped,

just picked ours up from Longton Argos.

Seems a pretty good deal to me. As for the Freeview comments, we live in an area that has not that long had Freeview. Shortly after we got it, they did some jiggery pokery and we lost some ITV channels, we are sooooo limited in what Freeview offers that I know of several folks who were waiting on iit, got it then now buy Sky. THATS how rubbish it is....

so for standard Freesat if you dont already have a sky box, as I said, seems good.

Sorry, did that make sense at all.......;-)

Yes,been with Sky 12 years and just changed card for the second time, so 5 years for 20 quid sounds a reasonable rule of thumb.

With a bootsale digibox you may need to buy a new white skycard from sky at £20 to get chanel 5 and perhaps some other chanels

When the service launches it should be until then it's just the Humax boxes that work I believe

I got the HD one and did the same... shame the rest of the country doesn't follow...

Nobody likes to pay for sky............only 9 million at the last count...........i dont pay sky anything........but remember, without sky there would be no Freesat.............so,thanks rupert, but no thanks

You don't need a card for ch5 as you can add it by the add channels, there is only sky3 now I think the card is worth having it for

The £20 Freesat from Sky card only gives you a few extra channels like Fiver, and Five US, Sky 3 etc and you can get ch 5 without a card if you add it yourself with the Add channels menu on a Sky receiver and you get ch5 anyway with the Freesat receivers.

This is a good deal on the Bush Freesat receiver but I already have the HD Bush receiver.

I have the HDMI connection on the HD Bush which upscales the SD channels.

Fiver and Five US will go soon on a digibox...............edit..........beaten to it again!
