Buy 4200 Microsoft Points £29.99 turn them back into £

1) Buy 4200 Game Card £29.99 or £28.49 with Like Us on FB code

2) Redeem on Xbox

3) If you have the new dashboard update itll ask you to turn them back into £'s but at the Microsoft rate which works out at £35.70 back into your account. So about 25% extra. Prices are more expensive though post update so beware!

N.B. If you dont have the new dashboard, you can either sign up for the BETA or wait as they are phasing out the points system in August.

This only works out as a good deal if you :
1) Buy apps and games from the windows store ( Windows Phone)
2) Intend to hold onto the points for Xbox One release.
3) Dont buy too much from the xbox store in the short term.

Xbox One coming out soon, this will probably be a cheaper way to buy new games for it.

What new dashboard? I signed up to beta a while ago and got IE early. How do i get the new dashboard?

you do realise that the uk prices have been jacked up yes?

for example £9.99 would have got you 1200 microsoft points at game.

you redeem this and you could pick up 3 x pieces of dlc at 400 microsoft points.

Now with the beta downloaded , those 3 pieces of dlc cost £4.49 each but as you are in the beta microsoft only give you £10.20 for the 1200 microsoft points after conversion. Your 3 pieces of dlc cost £13.47 now so you can't buy them.

what cost you £9.99 this morning now costs you £13.47 tomorrow bargain!! not

Yet again the UK gets shafted!!

I know what you mean but this is for the long game in terms of when the Xbox One comes out and using for Windows Phones. Prices fluctuate all the time and different for different regions. This is still a deal as your turning pts into more £ than what you paid.

In terms of downloadable content in the short term, maybe your right. In the long term you win.

but you are not though if the content has been marked up at a 25% premium!

You may be looking at it as getting more money for the outlay when in reality the content has been jacked up to compensate, anyone with even a simple grasp of the value of money can tell they are being shafted.

No good spending £29.99 on £35 worth of points if the content now costs close to £44.50!

With 4200 microsoft points you could have got 10 400msp games with 200 to spare before the update.

now you can only 8 games!

Your talking about the update. Thats the price fluctuation because of the update on the games you want. There are thousands of items that have not been jacked up. Its not an overall hike, your annoyed because you cant buy certain things at the cheap price that you saw yesterday and didnt buy. Thats life im afraid. If you see something cheap and you want it, get it. Dont cry the day after when its gone.

If it was an overall hike youd be 100% correct, but its not. Prices on windows phone havnt changed, nor have the games that ive been looking at.

It's just not sinking in is it , they have jacked the prices up for all content on the uk xbox marketplace for those in the beta that have had their points converted to pounds!!

no ones talking windows phone you nugget! there's no beta for that ! you can't even use microsoft points to purchase windows phone items anyway!

What cost you 400 microsoft points yesterday , will cost you a lot more microsoft points equivelant in GBP today.

go to Game website buy 1200 microsoft points for £9.99 , now try and purchase 3 items that you knew were 400 microsoft points each yesterday , i bet you are £3.47 short so can only download two

nothing to do with limited sales , one day deals or gold members only sales!!!

Sounds like I should spend my MS points before the enforced conversion comes in.

I think you should deffo not sign up to the beta if you haven't already!!

When will the forced conversion come in?

I've still got a fair few of those cheap US points so I guess like yourself I'd better use them somehow before then.

Later this year in the Autumn, when the next dashboard is introduced after the current Beta testing.

support.xbox.com/en-…faq.

yeah i was a bit raging when i noticed this. i installed the dashboard earlier and my points where changed to £s. I had just over 3200points still to use and it was telling me that would be changed into around £29, at first it wouldn't even let me buy things, i tried to get the Dishonored dlc but had to go onto the marketplace website to get it to download luckily that was still showing my balance in points so it only cost me the 400 points instead of the £4.49 it was trying to charge me under the new dashboard prices. Unfortunately the 2890 points have been changed into £24.82 on the website now. One annoying thing is i had been putting of buying state of decay because i figured i had lots of other things to play at the moment and now instead of it costing 1600 points its £14.99 even under microsofts pricing of a 1000 points for £8.50 it should only cost £13.60. I think the actual exchange rate of point to pound is fine its just the inflation when they are changing the cost of things into pounds is not balancing out so may put off buying things until thats addressed im not sure who decides the pricing on that, microsoft or the developer.

Zombrex is spot on I'm afraid. Unless you happen to live in Canada, they actually get a better deal out of it now, but the UK doesn't. You should use up your points before entering the Beta....unless the points cost has gone up on the main marketplace too, then you're screwed either way.

100% agree with the above post
4200 points = 10.5 downloads @ 400msp each
new dash - 4200 = £35.70 = 7.9 downloads at £4.49 (400msp)
Really how do MS think they will get away with this!

if people would read my deal from today I show with the math on how to get round this and make your MS points gain value by 40%+

Cheers! That's not too bad I guess, hopefully there are some decent dlc sales before then.

I guess i'll be using my points before the new system comes into effect, it sounds like it's another method to screw over the (specially non US) consumer. I'm really trying but MS are not making it easy for me to still like them.

Also should be noted that once you convert your points to pounds, you have one yea to use them otherwise they will expire.
Edited by: "Harryisme" 10th Jul 2013

Don't get me wrong Imranio any other day £35 worth of points for £28 would be hot all day to me , but until they sort out this price fluctuation between regions, it's great if you want to stick it all on a Hungarian tag though as you will get 3 games per 800 Microsoft points that way but for us UK lot hold your water until they confirm these indeed are the final prices!
Edited by: "zombrex" 10th Jul 2013

We've had Xbox 360 since start (bought 5 over the years). Also have a PS3. will only be getting PS4 now. Have had enough of the crap from MS

This will be the price, just look at the games on demand, emaple DmC = £29.99 and $29.99, It's just not normal

If someone has a US account with points and the new dash I would love to know how much $$ they get for the MS points as well

'Expired', like they'd turn sour or something, what a joke! it looks like MS want to steal EA's crown for most hated company.

I think someone should point out to MS that what they posted in their FAQ isn't true:

"the amount added to your Microsoft account will be of equal or greater Marketplace value than your Microsoft Points. Marketplace value may not always be equivalent to retail price. Retail price is determined by the Retailer, whereas Marketplace value reflects the value of Points throughout Microsoft stores."

Clearly its not equal or greater in the UK.

Best thing was no one at Microsoft had an answer to why, I have been on XBOX LIVE gold for 10 year's and after them taken £80 worth of point's all they could say was they only last for 12 months, Really it's like talking to a brick wall at best and I don't blame the guy's who work at xbox support I feel sorry for them, As for this new dash the real money price cost more than the PSN.
How they can have the same price for pounds and the dollar is just unreal,

For UK gamers
400 points (£3.40) games are now £4.49
800 points (£6.80) games are now £8.99
1200 points (£10.40) games are now £11.99
1600 points (£13.60) games are now £14.99

Hopefully now the OP see's where i'm coming from

This works well for me as I have a Hungarian account and a Windows Phone. Just bought games and apps using my phone from the points I traded in. I agree with what you guys are saying in terms of DLC costing more now but I dont buy DLC/Games on the Xbox (uk) so this deal works for me. Im holding onto the points in my account till Xbox One comes out. Thats when youll save the most.

It all depends on how you use your points I suppose. Its beneficial to not move over to the new dashboard (even if you could) given current prices on the uk dash for games/dlc.

Theres massive variance here depending on what your going to spend them on. I suppose in the end thats why this isnt a mainstream deal and not value for everyone.

I agree if youve got the new dash then life prob seems a bit **** right about now, (if you havnt got a non uk acc aswell).

Yes I agree, shafted! I thought it was just DLC but its actually everything. I didnt know the prices for everything on the uk dash had gone up, 1 because I dont buy and 2 because once youve got the new dash you cant check old prices. My bad.

did anyone think we wouldnt be shafted? hasnt anyone ever notice how a GoD game will be on sale for here 8.99 GBP but only 9.99 USD. thats just ridiculous it should be 6-7 pounds then it wouldnt be too bad.
Not to mention the fact that the games are far more expensive than their disc based counterparts

Balls, I signed up for the beta, grrrrr. I got the update notification yesterday and now can't sign in without installing it.

If you've installed the update are you forced to do the points to £ exhange or can you opt out? And can you still buy stuff via the website in points rather than £?

I've got 3,000msp in my UK account so potentially not happy. On the other hand I only paid about £8 for them

If you signed up more than a week or so ago, it's maybe a different beta???

Any deal encouraging people to update to Beta needs taking down imo. (however well intended)

Not defending M$ here cos I'm rather **** off myself about this but customer support said they are looking into it as it seems a mistake.
It's not tax reasons as the tax was already included in our prices.
Points don't convert correctly either as 1000 equals £8.50 going via m$ site. So we may receive more but still being shafted

Forced to change. Everyone will be forced to do the same over time

Bairns just tried signing in to his xbox account and its telling him there's an update available and he must accept it or can't play on live blah blah blah. Suppose this accounts for it.. He's got quite a few points so no doubt he'll be kicking off shortly

Original Poster

Its inevitable to change to the new prices at some stage. I dont think Microsoft will keep these prices, its just an oversight on the beta dash, after all it is just BETA. Like ive said all along, short term doesnt look good, but long term its a winner if you hold onto the points.

Original Poster

If enough people kick off, which I guarantee they will, it WILL be changed to reflect better value. Did anyone see how responsive Microsoft were to DRM and the PS4 marketing. Days is all it took.

Not strictly true. Hopefully!

If you install the new update but do not buy anything through your dashboard and only through the website then the conversion process does not take place. As soon as you make one purchase on the dashboard then your points are converted and then there's no going back.

Got the beta dashboard but never went ahead with the conversion, says I'm going to get £199.92 but read on the beta forums that you have to use the deposited funds within a year

Haven't tried buying from website but still shows points.

I took it as far as the confirm purchase screen for one DLC and it looked like it was going to work.

The money expires in a years time thing is a complete con too, I really hate companies that do that.

They have fixed it

400 point games are £3.49
600 = £4.99
800 point games are £6.99
1200 = £9.99
1600 = £13.99

pretty much same as shops now.
