nice find

Bad reviews sadly thin paint that drips a lot and paint only in middle of roller and takes a while to clean. Shame, il stick with my normal rollers

when you go to checkout no mention of paint pod am i missing something

How hard is it to dip your brush in a conventional pot

I got two of these last year it worked fine even cover but it put the paint on so thin, after 2 coats I decided to go back to the old roller and tray, plus the paint for pod is expensive, so both pods are in the shed prob never to be seen again, I have not voted

got this offer when B&Q did it last year, you got it free on the testers too then though.

My one works absolutely fine, it makes painting a pleasure and very fast.

The trick is learning the correct amount and frequency of presses to release the paint, but does not take long to master.

Fantastic bit of kit IMHO

Online it suggests the cheapest paint that qualifies is only £8.47

could someone answer earlier question please re whether the paint pods can be topped up or if you need to buy a new paint pod each time. if not could be quite expensive and maybe the old fashioned way would be the better way. thanks

Well I ordered the paint and gone through the whole checkout process and it makes no mention of the paint pod at all. Anyone know why? It's not even mentioned on my email receipt.

Perhaps you should have added it to your basket.

Did you add pod to your basket aswell

Is it Paint Pod Compact or full size?

This is the compact version which differs from the 'full' version in that it runs on batteries and doesn't have a self clean function.
The compact pod just clips on to the pod paint, when you run out or need another colour you clip it on to the new paint - only pod paint can be used with the pod.
I personally wouldn't use the pod and much prefer using a normal roller and brush, but it is a good deal as i can buy regular dulux paint getting the pod for free, and sell the compact pod recouping the money i paid for the paint, and possiably a bit more. If you need more than one tin, put them through on seperate transactions.
Voted HOT.

I also had one and found it fine, does take more than a normal coat to cover a wall nice but the end results are good.

Its also very clean and tidy with no trays every where etc.

Also free with this is a betamax video player!
They're giving them away because it's going to be obsolete soon!!!

Doh! Schoolboy error! Re-ordered and I'll cancel the original order when I go to pick up the Pod.

Hot deal BTW!

nice find. good price and high quality.
But I'm sorry..I supposed it were Durex..

Terrible contraption, paint goes everywhere except on the walls and so thin and uneven you're much better off with a roller and tray.......just my experience!

These will work with other paint but not as well. Mine is fine with the paintpod paint but hopeless with other 'cheaper' paint.

gimmick.. cold...very cold

Use your common sense there mate. You'll get there in the end.

Verdict from Which? (hope it helps)

The Dulux PaintPod Compact is the smaller sibling to Dulux's PaintPod roller painting system. Both release paint onto the roller at the press of a button, but the Compact is cheaper, smaller and lighter. You simply clamp the battery-powered header unit on to the pot of special paint.

So, is the Compact really worth the extra expense over a traditional roller and tray, especially as it lacks the big PaintPod’s self-cleaning system? We gave it a try, with rather mixed results.
Using the PaintPod Compact

On the positive side, the Dulux PaintPod Compact can cover large areas quickly once it’s up and running, and leaves a very smooth finish. It almost banishes the spatter effect of a traditional roller, but not quite. If you've left paint on the roller and then move it suddenly, it will slop paint.

Working out how much paint is on the roller takes a little getting used to. Initially, we found it difficult to judge. This improved with practice, but the difference between well-loaded and over-loaded is only a couple of seconds’ button-pushing. And a traditional roller is inevitably much lighter; our arms began to droop three-quarters of the way across a not enormous ceiling.

OP, worth adding compact to make "Dulux Paint Pod Compact"

A pity about the £5 P&P charge. No stores near me to go and collect

Will using Dulux's normal tins of paint instead of using the special pod containers effect the running of this?

im sorry but i REALLY want to love my Pod but its useless. If anyone in the N.E wants it pm me

Total wast of time the paint pod, bought one from B&Q and the bloody paint did not even come out of the roller. Returned straight away, lots of customers were returning this product. Total Crap

Its more messy then roller.

I gave mine 3 months then took it back for a refund. No matter what technique used, it is still rubbish. Absolute waste of money. I wouldn't take one free either.

just rang wilkinsons and you hae to add the paintpod item into your basket too and then it get taken off at checkout but i can only be used with the paintpod tins only so unless you are going to pay the price for the pods alittle pointless really

This was even better when they had the same offer at B&Q. You only had to buy a tester for £1. I bought 10 testers, seperately obviously and when offer was finished sold the paint pods for £20 each.

BRILLIANT

I've just ordered one! I needed one anyway so this has saved me a bomb! :-)

many thanks for posting!

Whether you like this or not surely if you needed some paint you get the pod free and you can sell it on or give it to someone who wants it!

They're giving them away cheap to lock you into their proprietary tin of paint with batteries. Total BS.

I'm betting the pod paint is more expensive than the regular.

thanks ordered £8.47 delivered to my local store

Bet they can't give them away! Tried for ages at B&Q... not worth having for FREE!

Dulux need to start producing quality paints again. R&D money should not be wasted on retail gimmicks. White paint still turning yellow. Need to work harder with V.O.C regs.
