You would have to pay me to buy from this shower after my last dealings with them. A bunch of crooks.

It's always refreshing to hear of another 'happy' zavvi customer who feels the same as me
Similar offer on the Arrow Video website direct if you don't want to use Zavvi.
HMV also have a 2 for £15 offer on some Arrow videos (as well as 88 films and Shameless labels) but haven't bought any in HMV Broadmead (Bristol) as they can't be bothered to put price stickers on any of them and the offfer says applies to stickered stock only.

Must have had a one of bad experience as I've used them for years no problem
Can someone just please explain why Zavvi have a bad reputation, especially here?

In my experience they are very good at taking your money for a subscription month after month but not actually sending you anything .
Their customer service is appalling. Unlike Amazon they don't have a direct phone number, which for a company that size is crap. They only have live chat or email.
I've had countless problems with them. I only use them if no one else is suitable (exclusive steelbook etc)

Oh I see, thanks for replying. They seem horrible especially with no phone number. I'd be livid too if paying for a service but not receiving the goods.
However this Arrow Blu-Ray offer seems a good one. Heat

If they are anything like Zoom then they do have a direct phone number but they hide it. Try finding Zoom's number now, anywhere lol.

Thanks. I already had that because I had an old message from them. I asked them about it and as I suspected it is a deliberate policy. The reason I was looking for it was because I ordered Ghostbusters and they sent my Answer the Call.....twice. Apparently I am get proper Ghostbusters this time.

Order from them and then immediately try to cancel your order. When they refuse to let you do that then try to return it. You will soon get my drift.

I totally agree. Their customer service is terrible. They won't let you cancel orders and that is clearly company policy.
Candyman Bluray £5.76 at Amazon.

That's really bad (tried to leave a more accurate word but got removed) .

I've not had trouble with Zoom.....yet
In Zavvi's last Arrow Sale I ordered 4 BDs. It was a BOGOF offer. I failed to notice the small print: "the cheapest item will be discounted immediately". In my order I had 2 priced at £45 each and 2 at £15 each. Being a BOGOF promotion I assumed I would be charged £60 (£45 + £15). I did a multiple order to save on the postage which was only £0.99.

When I paid by credit card I didn't notice that the order total was £90 and not £60 as expected. Precisely 7 minutes later I checked my order confirmation email and it said £90. What these winkers had done was charged me for the two highest priced items (as in the small print)!!!

I immediately fired off an email asking to cancel the order.

Having heard extremely bad things here about Zavvi being con artists I decided to do an online chat with their customer service as soon as it started at 8.00 am the next morning. I simply did not trust them. I was informed that I couldn't cancel the order because it had already gone to the warehouse for processing!!! This was 8.00 am on a Sunday morning!!! I asked did their staff work from midnight Saturday night until 8.00 am on Sunday. No answer. I was told that if I returned the 2 more expensive items it would all be sorted but I would have to pay the £9 postage myself!!! I was given a returns number had to send it "signed for" because Zavvi have small print saying:

You will need to obtain a proof of postage receipt when you send your item to us. Proof of postage does not cost anything but without it we may not be able to process your refund or replacement in the rare event that your item is lost in transit.

Any item you have accepted and then returned is your responsibility until it reaches our warehouse. Please therefore ensure that you send your item back to us using a delivery service that insures you for the value of the goods.

We will not refund postage costs to return items which are unwanted or no longer required. These costs will need to be covered by you, again we recommend using a delivery service that insures you for the value of the goods.

Despite the Zavvi rep saying my order was being processed at 8.00 am on Sunday morning I didn't get a dispatch email until Monday evening at 7.00 pm!!! So, surprise, surprise they had lied to me. I was sodding fuming but worse was to come!!!

On the Monday which was the next working day I paid £9 (signed for) for sending the two more expensive box sets back as the customer service agent told me to do.

Fast forward to Thursday and I received an email from Zavvi saying my items had been returned and refund processed. The refund was for £30 and not £45!!! They had refunded me for the 2 cheaper items that I hadn't returned!!! I immediately started an online chat with a different customer assistant. She said I should have been told to return the WHOLE ORDER to get a refund!!! I said that was stupid because I wanted to keep the 2 cheaper items. I asked her to refund me a further £30 so I would then only be paying for the items I now possessed. No, she couldn't do that. I had to return the two BDs to get my £90 refunded!!! I said that I wasn't told this on the Sunday and I was now facing another £5 to return the items. She did take pity on me and created a free returns label. About 3 days later I was refunded another £45!!! So, I was £0.99 + the £9 it cost me to send the first 2 box sets back. A tenner down the tubes!

What a crooked way to run a business! I think their customer reps are told to tell customers who contact them to cancel that their order was already on its way.

They are totally and utterly crooks.

If people knock Amazon they ought to try Zavvi. Amazon are brilliant if you need to cancel an order created by mistake. You can do it all online. With Zavvi you have to email them which they will then ignore. Bent tossers.

Caveat emptor.
I had trouble with Zavvi too, box set arrived damaged due to pitiful packaging. No end of hassle getting it sorted. Not used them for years after that.
