Maybe not the same for everyone but the one nearest to me is the biggest dump in town and makes the Wetherspoons look posh.

5% fat? You lost all credibility to me before you even got going. There's not a restaurant on earth serving a beef burger with 5% fat, and if they do it's crap. You need about 20% fat for a good burger, there's really no debate.

Possible to get an accurate photo of what these burgers really look like?

Reading reviews on Tripadvisor isn't really very reassuring

Wine and pints of beer from £2.29. So works about about the same.

Main difference at my locals seems to be staffing. Wetherspoons employ enough people to function. The Hungry Horse doesn't. Long queues at the bar because there's only 3 people in (one cooking, one taking food out, and one taking orders and serving drinks). As a result, it's usually quite a mess.

Agreed. I can't complain in the slightest about my local withies, so won't go out of way for this deal.

Alternatively, get cooking your own burgers and get some friends n family round.
Win win!!
Make your own;

beef from butchers (5% or 10% fat is better than chuck, chuck is too greasy IMO)
salt and pepper (add to outside of burger)
worcestershire sauce (for basting), this really improves taste massively and is far better than adding onions or sauce directly to mixture
decent cheese slices (no point otherwise)
brioche buns (toasted)
very hot pan

Infinitely tastier. Burgers are about the easiest thing to make, just don't overdo them so they remain juicy. Start on very hot pan both sides, baste both sides amply with worcestershire sauce, then once nicely coloured add cheese slice and finish off for about 10 minutes in the oven at gas mark 5.

As a meat eater who's slowly being converted, that sounds pretty damn good. But I know it'd arrive a total car crash, whereas a bad beef burger is still pretty good.
Looks like a good way to celebrate #RemainDay today ,thanks OP

I don't agree. You can have a plenty moist burger without so much fat, the fat just makes the burger greasier. if you like a greasy burger, fine, but if you don't overcook it a less fatty burger can be just as moist.

The one in Portsmouth has just been revamped, and the food is pretty good. Certainly can't be beaten for price. Burgers are really nice too.
So, how to feed a family for super cheap: order 2 quadzillas for £10.99. That's 4 beef patties, 4 chicken patties, bacon, cheese sauce and chips. Enough to feed a family of at least 6. On a budget, it cannot be beaten.

Another very good reason why I wont be in my local.

It comes with a free side order of cardiovascular disease.

you can also double up and add another burger for £1 extra ,the extra burger on the cheese burger works out the same price as the bacon and cheese burger ,better value to have extra burger than £1 for a rasher of baco,.ours works out cheaper than Wetherspoons as cheapest drinks are £2.49 a pint at hungry horse .
Ooh things I'd do to one of those right now

Thanks for the post OP. Appreciate it
It's been like this for ages
Had a burger there last weekend it was awful and waited nearly an hour to get it!
Great reminder OP,. Early Mother's Day treat tonight for Mrs Albert!
Is this a deal when it's on each week I hate to be that guy
