Yes, this is new. I've worked for B+W and this, like most of their products, is an incredible bit of kit. At £329 (previous price) people would often step up to the A5...but at £169 this is incredible.

Treble is stunning, base is crisp (just don't force it...this isn't going to blow you away) and it looks beautiful.

Incredible price at £169...snap it up!

As tempting as that is I can't currently justify/afford to do it, just bought a wii u.

Does an iPad Air fit on it?

Morning all.

1. Sorry guys but will this connect to the iphone 5 and pending iphone 6?

Cheers guys

Morning mate,

To answer your questions:

1. Connectivity is ideal for iphone, so iPhone version 5/6/10, whatever is next haha, will be fine. Airplay is Apple's future.

2. Sonos were my main competitor instore. Honestly, the Play:One is a fantastic bit of kit. However, I was trying to shift this at £329.99 at the time (and I did, but the A5 remained our best seller) so at £169.95, I honestly think it blows the Sonos out of the water.

Pros over Sonos: Connect directly via Apple product. No need for app (so if people visit with an iPhone etc they can go direct and start playing); bigger, fuller sound (Play:1 is at its best when played as a dual, whereas the Z2 will fill a kitchen/small room on its own with full, mono sound); Can be used to stream sound from a film/video/Youtube clip, so adds a new entertainment dimension.

Losses to Sonos: Global device connectivity (you CAN use android on Airplay items, but it takes some reading. Sonos' system is a doddle), ability to connect all together and play at the same time (again, it can be done on the B+W products but requires a computer as IOS isn't able to handle more than one at a time...for now at least); price (but when you're down to this price, this isn't an issue).

Hi mate,
When comparing this to the Zeppelin, is there a big difference?
I've got the Zeppelin at the moment you see.

Thanks Lukey for your comprehensive response :-)

Just one more question please: in terms of sound quality I trust the B&W Z2 provides the better result?

Cheers again

There is mixed customer reviews on this at amazon people are complaining there is issues regarding the wifi on these units

I had this but returned it as airplay kept cutting out , seems you need a fast and strong wifi signal. Petty as the sound was excellent .

Whats the better sound this or the bose sounddock

Bose doesn't even come close to B&W sound

I have to say I find the B&W sound is not that great. I've had their P3 headphones which were badly designed, uncomfortable and didn't sound very good - cheaper AKG51 and Sennheiser are better as are Grado. I also worked in a place that had the Zeppelin, I found this to be okay sounding but not worth anywhere near the asking price.

A friend has one of these units and again the sound quality and connectivity aren't good. It's one of those brand where people are buying it based on the design, name and What Hi Fi reviews. I go through loads of equipment at all prices and for my money, I would buy the Sonos 1 over this any day of the week! Sonos has a lovely full sound with the option to upgrade when means dictate. The funny thing is I was dubious about the Sonos but put more faith in the B&W but my preference after practical and thorough listening was surprisingly a preference for Sonos over B&W. The icing on the cake with Sonos is that their software is stunning - works as expected and beautiful, fully intergates with all your music sources (Spotify, Google Music, NAS etc).

Sorry mate - totally disagree - the Sonos 1 is a much better product than any of the B&W range. If you are talking about users who want a system that they will use everyday and that integrates into their lives, Sonos wins hands-down. Obviously the higher up the range you go or multiple Sonos1 plus the bridge for dedicated music streaming with no loss...B&W just can't compete and their sound quality is over-rated too. Stick to the, admittedly great, hi-fi speakers...

Huge mate. The Zeppelins kicking out 150watts of pure sound , with a designated subwoofer, compared to the Z2s 50 watt total.

5 speakers in the Zep - 2 tweeters, 2 midrange and a subwoofer.

2 speakers in the Z2...there's no comparison.

However, the Z2 is perfect for kitchens, bedrooms...things like that. It has a beautiful treble and clarity, and looks great there. Having a Zeppelin in either of those would be like bringing a tank to a conker battle...overkill haha.

No question. If you don't believe it go listen to the Play:5 ( Sonos' biggest) compared to the B+W A5 ( one of their smallest)...the clarity and range difference is astounding.

Bite their hand off at £169...and Bowers are fantastic for Customer Service if you ever have an issue.

Open to your opinion...but the Zeppelin is an astounding piece of kit. Listening in a store barely scatches the surface of its ability...

Sonos are fantastic products, but for the little bit more I like the Bowers. For example - for £70 more the A5 is a different level to the Play:5 Sonos

All I'm going to say is ask ANY sound buff their preference...B+Ws Zepp vs the Play:5 (giving out less than 80 watts compared to the Zepps 150) and your answer is there.

I agree there may be some argument on the play:1 and Z2, but to call the Sonos:1 better than ALL B+W stuff ...that's just mad.

Tempting but already got b&w a5 and nad viso no more room great price

I had the original zeppelin mini, and it was okay. Bass was non existent (to my ears), however mids and treble were exceptional. I'm using a pair of Soundsticks and honestly, they sound as good with much better bass. They're not really a valid comparison though, since they're computer speakers not an iPod dock.

This needs a wifi connection really. There is - technically - a way to use it via pairing mode, but it's not a valid suggestion. So, if you need total wireless use, ie bluetooth, stick with the BOSE.

Yes - utter garbage. It doesn't even work with an Aux > Aux cable unless you've installed the app and configured it, plus joined a Wifi network. I'm not even bothered about AirPlay, just an 'offline' sound dock which this wouldn't do. When it did finally work, it kept cutting out and thus went straight back to Apple.

Sack it off and get the Bose Soundlink III instead (or buy into Sonos).

Sonos is a lot more cash thou isn't it?

Right...to end debates:

THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE DEAL. PERIOD.

It would be comparable to the Sonos:Play 3 at £249 (I think), but with richer acoustics and more balanced treble. Bass is so so, but if you're after Bass try anything from the A5 up.

Aux: Works without app. LOL, I'm not sure what happened in your case, but trust me...it does.

Sonos - excellent. Bose - excellent. Bowers and Wilkins? A BRITISH company with over 50 years of audio excellence behind them. Premium build and sound, and with the customer service (not every product is perfect) one would expect.

At £169, this is by FAR the best in its price range.

I have C5 earphones, P3 headphones, an A5 speaker and am financing a Zeppelin atm - they really are that good.

versus.com/en/…y-3 - Z2 vs the Sonos Play:3. Look at the Z2 pros - FAR more worthy for a music system.

However, if android...I'd say Sonos (their connectivity is unmatched...at the moment at least). If Apple, B+W every day of the week (products that are actually sold in the Apple stores themselves).

This is a great price for a wonderful piece of kit. I personally am gonna hold off till the iPhone 6 is release. Its supposed to be bigger than the current iPhone and am not sure we will be able to dock it. Possibly the reason why B&W has dropped the price to sell of as much as possible. Just my humble opinion.

No I meant the Sonos 1 is better than B&W Z2. But to be honest the B&W sound is way to warm and tame compared to Sonos. Sonos is full yet detailed. Obviously further up the range you have to compare like-for-like units. I DO strongly feel that B&W (much like Dr Dre Beats/BOSE etc) is a brand synonymous with style as opposed to sound quality though - always listen before committing.

Agree to disagree I think. However, Beats are a prime example of marketing done well - they are bass heavy and lose tonnes of clarity. Plus, they are cheaply designed and don't last.

Bowers are KNOWN for their sound quality, in a bracket with other premium sound designers such as BOSE, Cambridge etc (and B+O, albeit their recent releases seem to have a heavy 'design over sound' feel'.

Agreed, Bowers is known for their style...but they've ALWAYS put sound quality at the forefront of their products. Their floor speakers, the Zeppelin, their A7, P7's ...sound at it's very best.

Depends on your budget, but this is a great price.

I think they went a tad high with the price. As for the dock, I'd say with 99.9% certainty that Apple won't change the dock size - they can't. They suffered terrible backlash when they moved to the lightening dock, and that is there to stay...so I wouldn't worry about that.

hi all, i sold my B&W for the sonos play 3 and i have to admit the B&W sound was slightly better. where the sonos wins is its use of the bridge which gives flawless streaming. i had my B&W in many places with wifi boosters and ethernet connectivity but the dropouts were very very annoying. if your B&W is going to sit near your wireless router then this is a bargain....if not, get the sonos play 3.

I have b&w 602 speakers and other systems through the house but am struggling to compare this. Just spent some time listening to it in john lewis and think it sounded miles worse than my 602s, am
I wrong?
