I fitted 3 of these units a few months ago around the outside of the house to stop the kids in the street hitting the car and going onto the property and it worked a treat, we also had a burglary in the street 2 weeks ago and the police officer knocked the door to ask to look at the camera footage so surely if it tricked a police officer it’s a good enough deterrent for others looking to cause trouble and for the sake of £1.60 it’s a no brainier

So its elf on a shelf for adults
considering how cheap real systems are i don't get this.
Not proof.
Really good value, just bought 2 for £3.20 del Ideal for wiring a Cleverdog or a Webcam into if you can do a little DIY

Ahhh yes the dummy security cam. The easiest way to spot fake cameras is if they have 'camera' printed on the side! Genuine cameras virtually never have this.

As if somehow the ne'er-do-wells are unsure, and the manufacturer thinks by seeing the label saying 'camera' it will be the final confirmation they are being monitored by the 'this-is-definitely-not-fake-because-it-has-the-word-camera-on-the-side.'

The irony kills me.

Just on observation. Every 'security cam' you see with the word 'camera' printed on the side is 99 percent likely to not be a real security camera. It's as good as advertising the fact.

P.S Don't do the crime if you can't do the time

I agree, but installing a real one is a bit daunting for the likes of me.
I have two sitting in my garage because I can’t work out where to drill to run the power.
This one looks fake though.
Oos damn you, needed these, unwilling to pay £5.99, voted hot nonetheless
My brother is a police special. He was called out to a dispute between two neighnbours, one complaining the other had installed cameras which overlooked his property. Turned out they were fake cameras similar to these but my brother wasn't allowed to tell the neighbour they were fake and had to tell him that he had checked the line of sight of the cameras from a monitor and none of them could see his property!.

They're not very bright and some of them can barely read.
Good little bargain for an easy deterrent. A real system is great and all, but unless you live in an area where crime is common, the hassle of installing it is outweighed by the advantage. Most of the time the most useful thing about cctv is the deterrent. Most people robbing houses don't do it on their own road, so a grainy distant shot of the side of their head isn't going to realistically do you much good anyway.
