I bought this the other day. It's worth much more and is over 1200 pages. You will be paying under 2p per page. Talk about value for money. I had watched a few video tutorials on learning C++ but I wanted to expand on that. This book had been recommended by nearly everyone and using the voucher code PP5010 (I think it's still valid), I got the book for £19.53. Free worldwide delivery and I thought it was a bargain so ordered straight away.

This may well be a good book, but I don't believe in measuring the quality of a technical book by the number of pages it contains. In fact, quite the opposite; if a concise technical book can explain a topic clearly in fewer pages than a competitor, it wins. Hence, O'Reilly & Associates books are generally my first stop for any given topic.

I'm wan't at all suggesting that it was a better book because it has more pages lol. I was just pointing out that there were over 1200 pages and therefore per page, it was only 2p. For example there is a really good novel out 400 pages long and another out that it not quite as good but still a good book but priced the same, you would be getting more read time out of it and hence would more likely buy that one for the price.

This is only relevant if you plan on using it as toilet paper!

Your attitude towards length being proportionate to value for money is insane. After reading a few technical books you will certainly begin to appreciate conciseness.

I agree, everyone knows you judge the quality of a book by it's weight

God I hate C++, even a 10 page book is too much for me. :x

Length equals value. F'narr F'narr.

Hmmm...

Quality not quanity, perhaps.

Either way, it appears to be the cheapest the book is available for (from my ]search), so "heat" added for the deal.

PS. Are you Stephen Prata (the author), jack1993?

BFN,

Be a man! go and learn some ruby!

(another useless comment, but I had to do it!)

I have this book although I haven't read it yet.

I wasn't sure if this was an expanded version of C++ Primer which comes highly recommended online.
