Probably the cheapest you will get for 2GB Ram.
Only 8 Gig Rom, which might bother people who use Android, but just flash Libreelec if you want to stream / use Kodi only.
Not sure what kind of rep Gearbest have on here, but I have personally never had a problem with them.

I dropped out of the boxes years ago and moved to dedicated HTPCs but recently grabbed a couple (from HUK) last week to tinker with which had firmware links to them (and a place to start reading up on).
Last time I had boxes it was a nightmare to find out who made them, board models etc which eventually put me off them.
If its decent seller then yes.
I think updated android ROMs you would struggle to find. Personally as I only buy them to stream media from my NAS, I just flash libreelec to them. It supports all s905x boxes for wired connection and 99% wireless.
Ah that might be an idea then, use a cheap one to play with libreelec. TBH getting bored of playing with Android, never touched libreelec
Edit: I also spelt the name wrong, it's caidao. Not been a good day.
Reason I ask, I bought 2 of them (one for me, one for dad). Mine died after an hours use (no blue power light at all), but dads was fine. Got onto Banggood who sent out a replacement... then dads died with same no power/blue light.
Then my replacement one died at the weekend gone, same symptoms.
So it cant be coincidence that 3 of them all died within a a few weeks of usage.
Would like to get another each foe me and my dad, but want one that might last a bit longer!
Cheers
Yeah I've been trying to find out but can't get any details for it. I'm like you, got too many of these boxes now, not enough TVs to connect them to
before you run off, could you please tell me what do you use this for?
They are a better spec and support Libreelec which I'm not entirely sure if the rockchips do.
Can't guarantee they won't break after 2 weeks, but I have about 6 s905(X) boxes of varying makes and not had one go pop as of yet.
I'm not too sure but if you ask on their forums I'm sure they will let you know. Just do a search first, you know what forums are like if you ask a question without searching...
This one is £12.99 ebay.co.uk/itm…pWq
If you are using it purely for media then flash libreelec on it or run it from an SD card and it will be better for that than it would be natively in android.
It's called constructive criticism. Most people just do a copy and paste job for the title. You on the other hand know this box only comes with 8GB ROM so you didn't put it in the title.
Yes, looks good. You can't really lose on eBay, even if it's a scam you will get your money back. I bought one off there the other month for about £13 but it never got sent, ended up getting a refund.
Can I still come and play at yours on Saturday though mate? The things you are typing are making me feel like it could be over between us? Say it ain't so.
Grow up little boy.
You must be one of those really mature Dragons
Lots of these popping up on ebay , they get positive feedback for cheap items and the start selling considerably cheaper items
This stinks of astroturfing. Proceed with caution.
If it looks too good to be true, then it probably is,it's far to cheap for it's specs
I'd go for the Smart Android 6.0 TV Box 4K Quad Core 2G DDR3 16G EMMC S905X M96X Pro Player, myself
Don't think that would turn up.
Just look at the feedback, none for months and only 28
Specs aren't the be all and end all. Bought a box last year that had the latest zingy CPU and 2 gig ram and it was useless as the firmware made the mouse pointer jerk around. Had to send it back..
The default cheapo box, 1 gig ram and crap specs was way better and I still use it now. The mouse pointer is super smooth.
Wired connection if you need it, more RAM which is helpful if you want to cache streams to RAM.
If all you need / want is Kodi then one of these boxes will run libreelec which is much better than the android Kodi app as you are not running off the back of android. It was the case in the past that refresh rate switching didn't work in Kodi for android but this may now have been fixed, but it does work in libreelec. To counter that, if you run a fancy speaker system I believe libreelec has issues which android doesn't, but as I am a bog standard sound via HDMI man, it's not something I have a lot of information about.
Worth a go with libreelec as you can boot it from a micro SD card without affecting android on the box. If you like it you can then flash to the box itself. If you are not familiar with libreelec, head onto the amlogic libreelec forum they are very helpful and active over there.
I never use android on these boxes as I use them solely for Kodi.
I would be interested to know if you actually get it. I'm wondering if I could install Linux on it and use it to power my homemade teleprompter project. I'm suspicious of the sellers given how little feedback they have though and I'm afraid that they might be fake knockoffs that don't function as well as the devices they purport to be. If they do though, I'd love to know!
