Looks pretty good at that price point. You could complain about everything here and say there's much better kit but for someone who doesn't want to invest too much, this gives a reasonably solid spec.
Front is too low.

38149219.jpgYes this is acknowledged in the review but the positives outweigh the negatives, otherwise mbr wouldn't have given it 10 score and rated it the best hardtail bike for this price point.

Any idea how long the code lasts for?
The price will go up 😃
Or... £764 for the amazing bossnut!? Wow the code is amazing!
Agree Bossnut for £764 is a steal, even if the update of it is due out very soon.
The other halfs dad rode a calibre two top to bottom at both bike park Wales and a black at Coed Y Brenin. Great bike "for the price". But, yeah a Bossnut for £764 is amazing.
Very good value bike, heat added.
Calibre Rake ORRRR Calibre Two Cubed? I am going to buy one of them tomorrow, price aside, can someone tell me which has the best specs?

Rake for me.

Lots of similarities but without splitting hairs too much, 2 things make the rake better for me.
Seat tube is a 30.9mm on the rake so easy to upgrade to a dropper post.
29" wheels on these entry level bikes make a big difference. They really help with the increased roll-over for beginners.

Ends Midnight tonight! (26/07)

There are lots of other codes as well. Don't know when they expire.

I just want a bike to ride on roads and a bit of grass. Should I avoid front suspension? Was looking around £300 so had my eyes on the subway 2. Any advise will be greatly appreciated
Go Outdoors can go jump of a bridge, tried to get a raleigh surge for my kid. Tried several times to get through to store and when final did seems their stock system is sh!t and although online you can click and collect they did not have stock. Apparently system is much better since upgraded in May.

Anyway, make sure you call ahead and check physical stock.

Don't bother with customer services as gave up after 8 mins waiting.
I've only just seen this reply, I went for the Rake anyway, going for first ride in about 10 min

Heard similar stories from others. I'm fortunate that I work close to a store and can pop in anytime. The staff are first rate in my local store, especially the bike specialist. He is head and shoulders above anyone else I've come across at my local decathlon or Halfords which have been lacking any sort of experience.
With all big chains like this, individual experience will vary greatly depending on store and the individual you get on the day.
Phone lines are generally terrible for chains as you just end up with Chinese whispers and no clear communication.

Would be good if you could report your experience over on the post for the rake to help potential buyers who are trying to decide.

I'm new to biking so hard for me to review with comparison to anything else and I've only had one ride on it today. But I can say that a friend who has an £1k+ bike has ridden my Calibre Rake today and says it's very good value for the money, he pointed out the shock on the front straight away to say it's good quality and said he'd happily pay £300 for this bike
