What mountain bike give it 5stars and state its the best bike you can buy for under £400

Excellent customers reviews as well, and I highly recommend after searching for weeks myself and choose this.

It should be noted that although not many people have heard of calibre, the spec on this bike for the price can't be beaten -

*Rockshox xc28 100mm fork with lockout
*shimano m395 hydraulic brakes
*shimano deore shifters and rear derailleur
* truvativ handlebar and crank
* WTB Bronson 2.1" tyres and seat
* Quando hubs and quick release skewers
* only weights 13.7kg which is very light for a budget MTB.

I also managed to get this on the cycle to work scheme so got it for even cheaper than this.

Ive had 2 carreras and although they are good and highly rated every single component on this bike is better. Having a decent rockshox fork at this price is almost unheard of and compared to the suntour thats fitted to the carrera is on a whole new level of good.

saw this on Monday just a shame the 18" is pick up only. Does anyone know if the 20" would be to big for 5 foot 11?

Im 5ft 11" myself and most bike sizing guides say that we are right on the border of fitting into both sizes. As such ive had both a 20" and 18" framed bike before in the past and for MTB your better going with the smaller size as their is more room between your nuts and the top bar incase you slip off the pedal/ makes putting your feet down on the rough stuff easier. This calibre and my old carrera 18" fitted perfectly.

Good price.

Great to hear, im abit wierd in the sense i collected instore but asked for it not to be built as I dont really trust these types of places - halfords, de cathlon etc. Ha.

Received mine today looks good just need to get my spanners out and the 18" is probably about right.

Good choice, fine Sir before going for this bike I was very close to buying a voodoo Hoodoo, it had great expert and owner reviews and looked good online, but when i saw it in person i was very dissapointed. The frame looked old fashioned and the handle bar was tiny. I then did some more searching and found the calibre and when i saw it in person i knew it was the bike for me.

I took it out yesterday with a few serious mountain biking mates on their custom MTB's and they were all very impressed with the spec and way it rode and it handled fantastically for a novice like me.
