Hi @funjaby
Thanks for posting. Can you confirm the exact title please (there's a number of Call Of Duty games) / which format e.g PC / XB1 / PS4 / which store you saw this?

Servers don’t go live in UK until 5am so not much point rushing out. This is just a cash grab, all of the stores want the sales! Gonna be a lot of disappointment this evening
I thought most UK retailers were doing this tonight to allow users to download the day 1 patch? GAME are at least. You won't be able to play until 5am either way.

I suppose it helps retail disc owners, since that version requires a 50GB patch (one of the reasons I am fully digital these days).
Crazy price COLD

Servers are online now. 5am is just for digital or PC.
Got the game this morning, servers are up and apparently been up since 4am
£48? Nope.
Wait for black Friday

Swear I got one for £25 on release day in Sainsbury's I think it was last gen. Back when COD was actually good too.

Yep, you supposedly can't play the disc version without it either.

You spent £30 in store and got it for £25. Or you bought some xbox points and got it cheaper. Them days are long gone.

That is a joke. These developers need to stop using day one patches as a crutch. I have never come across such a large one either, that would take me a good 20 hours to download all of that.

Yes, I remember that and purchased through the same process in Sainsburys.

£26 rings a bell though rather than £25! The good old days...

Modern Warfare 2 it was, I didn't even want the game but I still waited in line at Sainsburys for a copy then a load of us walked down to Cex to trade it in for a healthy profit.

So you'd rather play a broken buggy game? Seeing as the disc has to be sent to be printed months in advance, day one patches are required to implement fixes made during the final months, especially after the beta. And this isn't going to get better, games are more complex than ever. The days of having perfect day ones releases are over, you really need to accept it and move on.

I think you are over-estimating how much this bothers me, I really don't need to move on from anything. As for the topic at hand, if the game is nowhere near ready by the time the game goes to press, then it should not be sent to press. It is pretty simple. If you think a necessary 50gb patch is ok, then I think you need to up your standards a little.

I remember queuing at sainsburys to pick up MW2 for £24 on release day.... Amazing times.

50gb of patches?

Chances are it's the entire game, and the disc is now just for verification. Could be reworked assets. Certain engines require the whole thing to be replaced for a patch. There's a host of reasons why the patch is huge.

To be fair to play the online element of any game your game needs to be up to date and this is only online isn't it.
I made my mrs drive to tesco (out of town) so i could get mw3 at midnight....good times

Go on prime now, as long as it's in your area, look for black ops 4 which is 49.99 but it needs to total atleast £50, so add something like a pack of biscuits to basket then use the code PRIMENOW20

Refer to this thread but obviously replace fifa with Black ops 4 hotukdeals.com/dea…007

Use to be £25 for a day at morrisons. Can’t justify these prices for a generic shooter that will have more pay walls further down the line
