Call of Duty: Black Ops is available at Amazon for a sweet price of £28.97! Found this by complete accident as I had it stored in my wishlist for a friend.

Been playing this one on PC myself since launch and it's a rather sweet game. Beware, you will need a fairly hefty PC for this one because it requires higher specs than usual for a CoD game.

Good price indeed. Run's like **** though on pc.

Seems expensive for a pc game...

paid for mine ~£24 so not so good price imo

not bad but really irratic FPS on PC even after patch. Not even that great a game imo MW2 was the peak.Leave it now.
F1 2010 another patched and uncomplete game WTF is it with PC games. We may pay on average £10 less than our console cousins but they either run like SH£%E and or have to be patched to hell.
Its a joke at hte moment., Rant over

PC Games run on an unbelievable array of hardware - CPUs, motherboards, graphic chipsets, memory and each of those in a range of different speeds, capacities, etc. At times, it's a wonder anything runs at all. Compare this to console games - made for a single platform, same spec, no real variation. On the plus side, PC games DO get updates and fixes to various issues, and arguably the most recent games keep up with advances in technology (while consoles tend to remain static for 5-6 years).

I'm tempted to pick up a copy of Black Ops - I've heard there are issues with the Multiplayer (the principal reason for buying this), but I've lost a lot of hours to the series and it's probably worth a punt at this price - don't see any other offers coming close to this price at the moment.

As with the console version I am aware that there are issues, however it runs fantastically on my machine.
Other than day one online lag I have had no issues completing single or playing multiplayer.

Admittedly I am running an overclocked i5 750 at 3.8ghz and an ATI 5850...

Yep runs fine on mine (Phenom X4 , HD4870)

Yep no problems on a GTX 295 and a Q9650 @ 3.8GHZ, 8GB DDR2 @1066, but even so its not that great of a game Battlefield Bad Company 2 and COD MW1 is where the action is at.

Same as MBeeching, r1zla and Cronik1983 - it runs well on my two machines: 1. a gaming machine with an i870 (2.7ghz) + Ati 5870 and the other a Q6600 (2.4ghz) and an ageing Ati 4850. Both give 60fps. What do both these machines have in common? Quad cores.

If there's an issue with this game, it's the ridiculous running on non-quad core machines and the coding for PC. It stinks, but for those of us that are playing the game, I for one am enjoying it! Now, that said, my friend has a dual core machine E6600 @ 3.6ghz and crossfired 4870s and gets close to 60fps.

Overall, the further patches (2 already been) are coming and should help out dual core machines. But yeah, I totally get the negative PC users' responses!

Hmm...now I see those above users without issues, they all seem to have a quadcore chip.

By default the framerate is capped at 85fps, I lifted mine to 125fps by editing the ini.
In reality it is restricted by the refresh rate of the monitor but it's clear that 60fps+ should be possible on moderate rigs.

core2duo @ 3ghz, 4gm ddr 800 ram, 8800gtx.. runs perfectly. definately don't need a high end rig for this game unless you want to max out all settings.

game runs crap on pc, avoid

Mw2 is awesome so's waw and mw1 all awesome but black ops is pile crud!!

where £24

Care to explain cause there are no INI files for Black Ops.

£1 less now!

Indeed, 28.97 now. Also, the latest patch (Thursday 16th December) has really helped some people get their PCs running well with the game. A friend of mine has been rather vocal about the games' performance/optimisation problems ever since its release. But since the last patch dropped, he seems to be enjoying the game now!

Hope this helps
