I heard from a very reliable source (my ass) that tesco will be doing it for £25.99 or £20 when you spend £30 on groceries.

can you pre order it from sainsburys?

Just called them as I had pre-ordered it. When I originally paid my deposit they said phone back before the 6th to confirm price or cancel the order for a full refund.

Original Poster

Yes you can pre-order it from Sainsburys, they take your name £2 deposit and they call you the night before it launches to remind you it's coming in. Quite a good service really.

I think we are more interested in proof of the 27.97 price tbh

Why do we need proof of that, it's the price you have to comfirm.

Yes but until I have paid for it all I can do is say what I've had confirmed to me over the phone by Sainsburys and show the proof to the pre-order.

they told you over the phone about the 27.97?? why did you start the thread? where is the info coming from?

I started a thread because I thought it was a good price, aka a 'deal' but if it's not of any interest just delete it.

I called them to ask the release day price as at the time of ordering they didn't know it. They told me to call before the 6th as I only had until then to cancel my order for a full refund. On calling them they told me it was £27.97 if I spent £30 insote if not it was £37.97. Can someone else please just call Sainsburys to clarify this as people don't believe me?

My friend works in the electronics dept at asda and asked his manager, his manager said he doesn't know the price until the release day, so I think that might apply to all supermarkets

not every store does the pre-order, mine doesn't.

Also, on the sainsbury's entertainment site it is £39.90, same as tesco's.

You can't say all retailers act the same.

Ok, but if you call Camberley, Winnersh or a bigger store with an entertainments department then you'll find out it's this price.

What is classed as an entertainment department? My local store sells tv's, games, cd's/dvd's/blu rays and other electronic items with a teeny tiny desk in the area. Would this be classed as the entertainment department?

You're right it does say that, never read the receipt as I was told when I paid the deposit that I would need to phone up on or before the 6th to findout the final price. I called today and I was told £27.97.

Not sure what's to be gained by making this up, just ban me if it turns out to be a lie...

Think Sainsbury's have learnt from selling MW2 @ 26 last year and will prob do a deal like this - why would the OP lie? Although strange that his store are shoutig the price out when its the worlds best secret........

Yeah, fair point and dunno why other people are stating those prices. I pre-ordered mine a few weeks ago as the store is local and I heard it would be a good price. I have my receipt and if it's that price I will probably go and buy a few other games with it then once I get the discount return the other games the following week when i'm back in the store. Although I expect we'll need a few groceries and a couple of bottles of wine so I'll be near the £30 anyway. So for those who believe me and manage to get it at this price then good for you, if not then doesn't really matter, expect the price will come tumbling down within a couple of weeks anyway.

I've had two days off yesterday and today, I'll speak to the home and lifestyle team leader tomorrow and see what she says, I've been told a few things, but nothing has been concrete as of yet. However each time I've been told something I've passed on the info.

I don't think you are getting it. It's not that people think you are lying, it's just that people want verifiable information, not what one shelf stacker has told you.
