So looking at a cheap offer for my mum and what a fantastic price for low users with quidco CB, it works out to £2.92 so pretty cheap for sky customers with UL calls and texts too.
Yes I know it’s 500mb but for low users like OAPS or clueless parents that don’t know what data is, you can’t go wrong

Plus with the off chance they want to use their data, I’m sure they would have a couple of GB stored up over a few months

Seems like a great deal, as you rightly point out, there are a lot of people (usually of the 'mature' variety) who actually use a phone as a phone and not a tablet for browsing the internet.
Tiptop spot, this is a fab deal for the Unlimited minutes & Unlimited texts alone, sky know that *most* customers who grab this, will be using sky fibre / sky adsl for data anyway, so this makes perfect sense as a plan for sky clients, works out cheaper than having a landline / line rental voice plan as you are already paying that, with sky anyway!

What's one of them?
Plus, data rollover for three years?

Refer to the above deal posted a while back. 1p per min/txt/MB data

Min £10 top up which lasts for 4 months or when used up. The more you top up the longer it lasts.

Ideal for ultra low users/emergency phoners/parents/school kids.

Just got my 14yo son on to it. Will suffice until he becomes really mobile active!

Also consider Freedompop.... Basic plan limited but completely free if you stay within miserly limits

Freedompop is awful, poor signal and unless it’s changed you have to use their app for calls and texts. With a 16 year old and one 12 I wouldn’t be signing up to any 12 month low use plan, they can quickly grow out if it just like they do with any thing else.

It's not that bad..... My son used it for 18m without trouble. My 68yo mum uses it in the house on WiFi.... WhatsApp calls text no problems

Agree that call quality when on data is poor unless you sign up to Premier services.

But what do you expect for a completely free service.
Not worth it UNLESS the quidco pays out, you can get more for £5 otherwise

Wasn’t talking about the free version even the paid version call quality is poor unless you, as you said pay for the upgrade when we tried it it wasn’t that cheap with the upgrade and others have got much cheaper since.

First reply not clear then. Didn't specify whether paid or free. There are no 12m plans with freedompop! Just 1m cancel anytime plans.

Do agree that paid plans are not worth it as all calls are reliant on a good WiFi or 4g signal.

It wasn’t clear because I was talking in general about their poor service. My comment about a 12 month deal was on this one, really no point in signing up to a 12 month deal with teenagers. there are plenty of good deals out there on 30 day ones and if you keep an eye out you could get the 20Gb deal for a tenner or 5Gb for £4 both with rollover with virgin from last year which are probably more than most will ever need.
Got this for my mum too! Data rolls over for 3 years.

Phone active ? My son uses 75gb of data a month on his phone and he is 11 years old , he’s uses that only using it for an 1hr and a half a day as we set time limits.
75gb?!?!? Whatever he’s doing, that is serious amount and no where near normal! Maybe you need to look in what he’s doing and reassess is usage of that equipment or remove it
