Yes, its one of the few things Tesco has got right.

I always buy from Tesco but it is now £1.85 for 100ml !!! are you saying it is cheaper to get it from Tesco pharmacy than to buy it from Tesco shelf?

You can get from the chemist for free for those who do small ailments scheme, otherwise not bad buy.

personally I'd happily pay £20 it would still be worth every penny it's amazing stuff and worth every penny, after all what price do you put on your children's health and happiness?

We made the mistake of giving our baby this, now he won't take the cheap stuff. Good price, don't forget a Daily Mirror voucher if you're spending a lot

Its only basically paracetamol wearing fancy clothes, there is nothing magic about it.

Asda have got nurofen on offer £2 at the moment, think calpol is too.

I hope so.

Worth it to get the syringes, far better than trying to fight a spoon into a crying mouth

you can buy syringes from pharmacy's for 10p ish just ask.

Like others have said, good price for the branded stuff, however i've paid £2.25 in my local paydens pharmacy for a 200ml bottle of their own and i also buy the cheap stuff from savers at around 99p a bottle. At the end of the day it's paracetamol suspension, it's all the same it's just got a different label on it, same as the cheap 16p paracetamol or the £3 a box anadin. It all works the same and has the same ingredients, just watch food unwrapped.

Its not equally effective. I'm not saying price determines effectiveness but simply the same ingredients doesn't mean the same product.

Forgot to mention, you can only buy 2 in any one transection

Free on the minor ailments service in Scotland. And I think England have started it too.

For medicine it does. If the active ingredients are the same as calpol it will be just as effective as calpol. Price does not determine effectiveness in simple medicines like these, its just branding and marketing that make you want to think otherwise.

Its £2.00 in asda in the baby event at the moment

Agree...my sons been in and out of hospital the last year and the 3 different hospitals we went to told us to go and buy the cheap pharmacy stuff and not calpol because it's all the same. He doesn't act any different. However, each to their own

Why would people pay double the price for branded items such as calpol (paracetamol), adult or child nurofen (Ibuprofen). As already mentioned many own brand versions available with the same ingredients. Branded baked beans is one thing but your not buying meds for the flavour

Exactly.

Meaning the 99p stuff sold in Home Bargains is a far better deal.

You lot not in the NHS????

True - I buy ASDA's own medicine instead of rip off Sudafed.....ingredients are listed and they are the same.

Can get it free from the NHS on the minor ailments scheme for kids, just ask your local pharmacy if they do it.

Even when I have asked for "paracetamol suspension" in my local Tesco pharmacy they reach for the Calpol - and I have to say "No, the generic version please." Calpol = more profit.

I agree

Why should any one buy this???? all you need to do is take your child to your chemist with a proof of address and birth certificate/passport and fill in a form "care at the chemist" and get 2 items for free every month (if you need to)

Poundland, B & M and Home Bargains all sell children's liquid paracetamol (basically Calpol) for £1. There is the exact same amount of paracetamol in the liquid. Why pay more for a branded name? The children still get the same relief from the cheaper version. It is akin to an adult always insisting they pay £3 for some Anadin instead of paying 20p for some unbranded paracetamol. It is ridiculous!

the cheap stuff.. The active ingredient (paracetamol) is the exact same. Your paying for the name.

I have no statistics or reason to say the B&M or HB deal is worse or better. It might as well be more effective than calpol.
