I always wonder how they can achieve this price ... tesco and boots always have it at the £3 mark.

Time to stock up little one is teething!

As this is for little ones surely you get this on prescription?

My doctor won't prescribe it, he said if I was on benefits I could get it for free, but as I work I need to pay.

Mmm strawberry calpol sure does taste good

Yes, but they don't have to prescribe calpol, it is their discretion .. they told me that I would need to pay for it. Which is fair enough as it means I don't go through litres of the stuff and only use it when really necessary.

Don't think they prescribe this though unless it's an emergency. The own brand from boots/supermarkets etc work just as well and are a lot cheaper.

Glad I am not the only one that can't get it prescribed.

It's a great price considering what the other supermarkets charge.

I just asked my doctor for some when I was in a normal routine appointment with my little one. Must have a nice doctor

Great deal for the people who can't get it, I'm very surprised

A pharmacist can prescribe it for so no need to go to docters or pay

How many can we get per person does anyone know? As my chemist will only sell me one bottle at a time!

I asked my GP to prescribe this once because my children's nursery will not administer medicine to the children unless it has been prescribed. The GP said no but it means I have to ask every pharmacy to print out a special label and stick it to the side of the bottle I've just picked off the shelf. Very annoying.

dont think there is a limit on it other than what the retailer decides is policy which is likely 2

Tesco did have it at £2 recently and I stocked up. This is a very hot deal though.

Doctors will prescribe it for an appropriate condition, but some won't if you just want one to keep in the medicine cabinet for when its needed.

Hot.

Bargain, thanks! Our doctors don't give it out on prescription either! This has been the same in our area (midlands) since my eldest was born 10 yrs ago!

if you're referring to minor ailments then no, branded is a black listed item you can only get generic paracetamol and rightly so

'Generic' paracetamol liquid is near the £1.50 mark... That's how ;-p

Worth having in the cupboard for emergencies , good price

I must be one of the lucky ones. I get this prescribed 2 bottles at a time! Also get kids ibuprofen by the bag load! I'm in the midlands

Our health visitor gave us a warning leaflet on Calpol. Recommended we only use it if a fever develops. telegraph.co.uk/hea…tml As with all these reports, who knows.

And we wonder why it's so hard to get appointments and the NHS is short of money. If you were on the breadline fair enough. Would you have got a prescription for it if you had to pay the fees a doctor in the US would have charged. Every pound you cost the NHS means it's a pound less for people with real problems like cancer. You probably go to A&E if your child's grazed their knee!

These people should be named and shamed. They have enough money to get on the net but not to pay a couple of quid to look after their own kids

There is not enough room here to name and shame the millions of people from the former Russian bloc countries who has not paid a penny into our NHS but benefit from it.

If the NHS is seen as a free buffet, some people really try to load up their plates...A prescpription like this actually costs the NHS a lot more if you include the dispensing fee the pharmacy is paid and the paperwork, not to mention the GP consultation which costs the NHS around £32. (disclaimer, i'm a GP who isn't keen to prescribe paracetamol for kids, hence hot deal!)

Sorry, not a deal. Supermarket-branded junior paracetamol costs around £1.50 and is exactly the same thing. No reason to buy Calpol and pay extra just for the brand. Same thing for junior ibuprofen (same as Nurofen).

either your Dr feels sorry for you or wants you out the room ASAP. Either way, it is pretty chavish to make an appointment, wait in the waiting room and use up an appointment slot (costing the state £50-ish) just to save yourself 2 pounds. Good luck to you if you think this is an achievement. As a full time worker with a 3 year old and 6 month old I don't have the time, so I pay over the counter at boots.
