Hotted.

[Sits back to wait for those who say you can get it free on prescription, but spectacularly miss the point that you have it right there right now.]

wait and see
there is this thing called minor ailments
The minor ailments service is straightforward. Patients will be encouraged to present to a community pharmacy instead of a GP practice in order to receive advice and medicines for a limited range of winter ailments e.g. coughs, colds. Community Pharmacists already advise patients on a wide range of minor ailments and either recommend treatment or refer on to another healthcare professional.
so for children should be free
not available in all councils and so much pain, i asked many pharmacies and they dont do it on every things (free ones):x

hot deal from me

Who ever invented this stuff deserves to be knighted...... any parent (except perhaps the tree huggers who believe that moon cycles fix all ailments) know this stuff is a godsend. Our little lad lived on this for years 1-3yrs and thanks to this, we also got some sleep when he was "bugged up", £1.44, I'd happily have paid £144!!!!

I find Calpol is best for minor ailments like colds and growing pains but for temperatures and fevers, nothing beats Calprofen - Nice find H&R

We get 2 bottles at a time from the doctors and just bung repeats in when we get down to 1 works a treat HOWEVER as has been said sometimes you just need some right there and then so HOT!!

PS tip for any parent get a box of the sachets in brilliant for keeping in the change bag/car for emergencies

Good price have some heat

being a tad thick here.. is calprofen like paracetamol?

what would one ask the doc to prescribe as they dont give out the branded stuff on prescription..

I have to add, although this is a very good pain killer please be careful when giving to children on empty stomatchs. I know its difficult for a poorly child to sometimes eat, but if you can get him/her to have at least a biscuit before giving any medicine with Ibruprofen it will help them tolerate it much better.

Ibuprofen is generally well-tolerated and most people do not experience any side effects. The most common side effects are related to stomach irritation and include abdominal pain, indigestion and nausea. These can mainly be avoided by taking the ibuprofen with food.

Ibuprofen can cause other problems too - it inflames my skin, leaving me with something that looks similar to sunburn. Not at all pleasant. The side affect is rare, but worth looking out for in case it appears in your youngsters.

for general stuff calpol usually alot easier taken as tastes so much better
hot price

availability not much different to prescription unless you had the walmart baby - get them both in advance and they are in your house
if you dont have then you need to go get either way although ofc supermarket easier

So this is an alternative to nurofen .. ?

Wonderfully awkward thread.

I for one am picturing the over-eager parents stocking up on this sugar drink, ready to pacify their beautiful innocent children from the pain of their meaningless lives...

Hot from me
