I was considering getting this, but this one at Amazon is about a fiver cheaper and I can't see any extra features on this one. I'll check it out in the shop I think.

Looks like a different size, nearly 50cm taller

Great price, heat

Yeah you won't find many tripods taller than the Aldi one - 153cm = (approx) 60" = 5 foot.

The Amazon one is a mere 41.5 inches, just under 3' 6"

Good spot - I missed that. I noticed aswell the aldi one has a hook on the bottom to weight it down if need be. Think I'll check it out on Thursday. Heat added.

If this is a good sturdy tripod fair enough but dont skimp on a tripod as it can make all the difference in a good shot. The clips on cheaper tripods often fail and crack and a cheap "head" can be a nightmare to use, not voting either way as I havent actually seen one in the flesh..... or aluminium before.

Would this be suitable for a Canon 600D with a large Macro lens + ring flash attached? TIA

I bought this one last year from Aldi and it's ok.
it's nice and sturdy and quite light also.
only thing I don't like is you can't down low probably about 2' ,
also a word of warning as the top of it is all made of plastic it does start wearing down over time so you have to tighten it that little bit extra on the swivel part and mine ending up snapping it does still tighten but not as secure

Depends on the weight of your kit sort of. 600D is about 600g lens the 180mm canon is the heaviest I can think of just over 1000g flash system? all depends what your using but shouldn't be much heavier than most flash systems so maybe 600g so your probably under the weight.

My reason or not buying it for macro would be that it isn't very flexible its lowest position is limited by the shortest folded legs due to the leg braces so no legs extended is the lowest you can go probably about 60cm, others allow you to get really low by opening the legs fully flat but your not going to get one that does that for £13.

Not really much use to be honest you can pay hundreds or £13 for a tripod its all about how you value what it does. I wanted something to support heavier kit and be light weight for when I am carrying it about and I have taken it all over the place up mountains etc unfortunately they don't come cheap for those features. cheaper ones tend to be stricter on their max weight get near it and things start breaking or bending and do you want it to do that with your camera lens and flash on top?

looks like the one 7dayshop used to do for £10.

Probably better off with one of these ....back in stock (limited)from yesterday ...very robust tripod for twice the price at £24.99

Max load on that is only 1.5Kg whereas the Aldi one takes 3Kg.

Anyone know if this would be okay for Nokia 1020 with a camera grip?

Perfect. My parents asked for one as a Christmas present to put in their bedroom. Heat added ;-)

Picked one up today, nice tripod thanks.

Bought one today i'm suprised its excellent for the money.I have a heavy one but bought this because its light and will fit in my suitcase so i can take it on holiday with me.

I popped in Aldi (Lincoln) last night and couldn't find these anywhere.

These are now £6.99 in Aldi Wrexham, just bought one and there were 3 or 4 left on the shelf

Got one of these too in aylesbury aldi, just one left at £6.99. Warranty card inside says this is a Hama tripod. Good value at this price
