Bottle of Campo Viejo Rjoja from Sainsburys at £4.14 each.

Not the best rjoja around but a great table wine at a fantastic price.

Was £5 at Asda last week and that got to almost 300 heat.

Nice wine, nicer price. Hot.

Lovely wine! Hope they will have some in my local tomorrow morning!

Nice wine. I'll be getting myself some.

Been waiting for a deal on this, nice wine, nice price

There you go.... 300deg.

Nice wine.

Nice wine, but it's not a Rioja.
Decent enough price though, so heat added.

Shame I don't need any more wine at the moment !

Shame , After buying 90 bottles in the tesco deal I am all wined out!

It's Tempranillo, not Rioja.

Tempranillo is the kind of grape, Rioja is a region

Thanks for the headsup on this

I've got enough wine to last me a lifetime! (OGIO)

Have some heat anyway.

This is definitely a rioja. Tempranillo is the primary grape used to make them so almost all rioja will contain Tempranillo but not all Tempranillo will be rioja.

In terms of rioja classification this appears to be a standard rioja as they seem to have pulled the crianza. For anyone who is interested, rioja is classified as follows depending on how long it stays in the barrels/bottle:

Rioja Crianza > 2
Reserva > 3
Gran Reserva > 5

The campo viejo gran Reserva is very good. Winemakers will only use their best grapes for the Reserva and gran Reserva so it's usually an easy way to identify a half decent rioja.

Thanks Rim for the wine education. I bought all of them during the recent 25% off deal for six bottles plus discount

I'm with Rimmer101 on this one, the Grand Reserva is the one to get.

The 'yellow' label Campo Viejo Crianza was a good basic Rioja.
Since they dropped their Crianza and went Tempranillo with the same labelling it's gone to crap.
This now doesn't compare to a good £3 bottle of plonk.

If anybody is interested, Costco are offering 6 bottles of the Campo Viejo Gran Reserva for £47.98 inc VAT at the moment. (Tesco's offer this for £60 reduced from £96, and Ocado is £15.99 a bottle).

The yellow label is good but the orange label Reserva is much nicer (in my opinion). If they've got that on offer I'd definitely buy 6.

Love this wine great price I will be stocking up later

I really love this wine. The gran reserva is good as a treat but for everyday wine this is really good value.

Wait! I still haven't finished my supplies of Tesco Ogio Merlot yet(!) LOL

Just bought 12 bottles, as an everyday wine its lovely!
Gran Reserva is also reduced down to £7.19, which I bought for £5.19 as Sains had given me a voucher for. Always check those little vouchers...a few useful deals that I've missed in the past!

Just looked at my receipt when I got home...saved a further 5% without even knowing it!! 'Buy 6 save 5%' woohoo. Muchos vinos with dinner tonight!

Ha, I completely disagree! Guess that's why the wine market can support so many different wines!

Having drunk a few of these bottles now (following the Tesco deal at £3.75 a few months back) I agree that this Tempranillo isn't quite up there with the Crianza it "replaced" but I think this is definitely worth £4 a bottle, and personally think is much better than most of the wines that generally pop up at £3, £4 or in the 3 for £10 or 3 for £12 offers!

The deal gets some heat from me. Sure it's not a top quality Rioja, but IS a very nice wine for £4, and excellent value at that price.....

Seems really expensive after the Tesco deals (£1.50ish a bottle of Ogio).. but still. nice wine and good price.

This is always going cheap and I always think of it as a low quality wine like all Campo variations. All down to personal taste I appreciate that but it does nothing for me.

top wine usually £6+

Do Sainsburys have any buy 6 for a percentage off offers on atm?

Buy 6 and get 5% off according to Thil's comment earlier.

Responsably enjoying a glass right now!

Nice drop of vino for £4.00

tempranillo is the grape - Rioja is the region duh!!! - Stick to what you know and less of what you don't and you'll look less silly in future
