The Canary* has just been made available in the UK but note that there is a promotion (ending today) that gives 50% off an annual security plan.

Pretty good deal for the device today as the UK price for once is cheaper than the US $ equivalent!

•See and Hear: Stream real-time video of your home with Canary's 1080p HD camera, 147 degree wide-angle lens, and automatic night vision.
•More Than a Camera: Protect your home with Canary's 90+ dB siren, motion-activated recording, and auto-arm/disarm.
•HomeHealth Technology: Monitor air quality, temperature, and humidity to help understand how your home might affect your health.
•Intelligent Notifications: Receive instant video alerts on your iOS or Android device.
•No Installation/Contracts/Monthly Fees Required: Plug in Canary, connect to the Internet and you're ready to go

NB Plans available here: canary.is/plans/

* I probably don't need this but it is such a cool gadget I have persuaded myself that I really do ...

They work with a default (free) plan - the offer relates to additional features (time, storage space etc.) but you don't actually need anything other than what comes with the unit to use it to good effect.

If you wanted to record to your own NAS you would have to set up some sort of proxy as I don't think that is how they are intended to be used.

Thanks, not for me then
Seems the terminology is "cube camera" for what I want... I can simply extend my existing IP Camera setup with something like; use-ip.co.uk/hik…tml

I appreciate there's no "siren" etc, but that's not something I'm overly bothered about.
Cheers , looked at the Youtube video ( thx rd3d2 ) seems ok , ordered .
