Cancel BT Sport if you're in contract without early termination charges

Just had an email from BT Sport to say that the price is going up (again!) by £1 from 2nd April. I still have 8 months left in my contract but the email states:

"You don't need to do anything but if you want to change something or leave, and you're within your minimum contract term, you'll need to call us within 30 days of receiving this email to avoid paying a charge for leaving early. You'll need to give us 30 days' notice to leave. We won't charge you for any increase in price during that time."

Meaning you can cancel now without any penalties. Hope this helps someone!

Yeah! Let's just vote every deal cold and steal everything we want!

If you've paid in advance for anything like your line rental, you'll lose that money if you cancel.

No you don't you get it back pro rata, there was a thread covering just that question recently, think it was on the broadband thread

yeah but if you were cancelling your BT Broadband it wouldn't matter as your new broadband provider would require a line (which you would have paid for in advance anyway with BT so wouldn't need to pay anything else for line rental for that period)

No. It's just immoral just like us being ripped off by "whiplash lawyers", utility companies, etc. Until law changes all of the above( including watching stuff on Kodi boxes
) is perfectly legal.

if you have a spare PC or laptop, even a spare android device then yes the software is free.

JUST SOME INFO

double and tripple check you have canceled everything with BT you might think you only signed one contract but every service is a new contract so cancel them all

i had to do over 10 phone calls over two weeks as my internet and broadband kept being pout back on it took over 10 hours on the phone just to cancel everything

what happend to me was i cancelled bt line and broadband i didnt have sports at the time

but because sports was on the contract at the start i was ment to cancel all three
and what I didnt know was they put broadband and line rental back on because they said i couldn't have bt sports without broadband
even though i canceled sports before(strange i know but this is exactly what happend)

after getting a strange email
i rang them again to find out sports was on the contract so i cancelled sports not thinking they put all of the three services back on
i then recieve a new email

saying i had cancelled sports

but i still had broadband and line rental
so on the phone again (within 2 hours of the previous phone call)

i got confirmation that all 3 packages where cancelled

the following month I then get a bill for my service which i had cancelled

thank god i got confirmation i had cancelled it by email

they still wanted me to pay so after asking them for what service i was to pay for and I pointing to the email which confirmed i had cancelled the bill
i told them to bill me the correct amount i owed them
plus i thought there might be a cross over period between payment and contract end and i was expecting a half bill

but to stop them taking money i cancelled the direct debit and told them on the phone to send me a bill by post

they still tried to take the money by direct debit

well after a few more months of them ringing asking for one month and then payment for two months and each time me pointing to the email with my confirmation of the cancellation ,they would go away and say they will find out whats going on

then suddenly out of the blue I finally get a refund from BT for £3.54 with a letter confirming my account was closed

whole process was 2 months

good luck

Days are numbered, usage too widespread to be ignored. I would expect heavy users will received cease and desist by the end of the year.

Already started on box supplier legality.

I bought a Kodi box and would burn about 500cal during football games because I'm getting up every 5 minutes to restart or find a stream with a higher bitrate than tetris.

Ended up throwing it in the cupboard and haven't used it since.

There's so many downsides to streaming, the main was the quality but another annoying thing is the delay. Can't stand knowing a goals been scored when I'm 2-3 minutes behind. When you have bets on a game as well its a huge annoyance.

People like you and that cretin of a box seller will end up spoiling 'Kodi' for everyone. It's days are numbered.

as annoying as price rises are.. I pay very little for my BT Sport and I tend to watch more on there then sky recently so £1 is nothing. Has anyone managed keep the original price?

so streaming paid content for free isn't stealing? you need to look up the definition of stealing. stream / download it's still stealing if you haven't paid for it. not on my moral high horse here but stealing is stealing.

Kodi is a brand name totally legal what you are refering to is an android box or an amazon fire box/stick....

I'm no "cretin"!!!!...if it's not legal...then why are so many people using it to stream? I agree downloading a film to your tablet or other devices would be considered elegal..but myself, just like others are streaming, just like you do when you use YouTube...which is legal is it not?.... oO

Complete gangsters.

Anyone of a certain age moaning that Kodi is stealing wants to remember those Sunday nights spent in front of your radio cassette recorder listening to the chart show on radio 1 and trying to hit the pause button before you got the DJ's voice on tape and spoiling the song.

Downloading films/songs is not new. Just easier.

Streaming sports and just about everything else using an android box/pc or whatever with Kodi installed is very hit and miss. I liked the tetris analogy earlier, the bandwidth of the streams are often very low and stutter is common and the image is very rarely HD quality. Its not uncommon to have to keep changing steams as the go offline.

If you're willing to watch what is most likely to be poor quality streams, keep trying to find new streams and are not bothered about picture/sound quality then this may well work for you as it can be free.

Otherwise if you want guaranteed HQ pictures, sound and a stable image then the BT service over sky or on thier own NowTV boxes can't be bettered but it will cost. At the moment you can get a ultra entertainment package with a 1tb Now TV box for a £10 a month. Thats with 4k sBT sports included. you will not get anywhere near that picture quality off kodi streams.

You pays your money (or not in the case of kodi) and live with the quality you get.

VPN. DEBRID. WOOKIE.

Even for those on sky ??

If I give my 30 days notice can I move to another supplier before the 30 days so I dont have to loose my broadband for a period?

Yes - When i called for my broadband re-newel i got BT Sport discounted for 12 months @ £5 - they also did me a deal for my broadband - & both deals incorporated the next price rises.

cant even remember what this post is about oO

I'm deffo ditching it for 2 reasons:
1) They advertise in the Daily Mail
2) Every illegal stream ever is probably better than that balls below:

Can you point me in the right direction to get a Now Tv box with ultra entertainment and 4k Bt Sports for £10 a month please , definitely interested in this and will ditch BT in a heartbeat and go with Virgin BB 200mb with this

BT Sport is sh8 compared to Sky. Very Channel 5ish.

Err, open a Bet365 account and deposit a tenner.

Voila! You can now watch virtually all the games worldwide you fancy in real time for free (online or via app) - and with an excellent quality dedicated legal stream too!

You can continue to get totally free viewing for as long as there is money deposited in your account.

Just don't start gambling......

My legal team at Shyster, Flywheel and Shyster say I have a very good case.
