With a few pointers from a few members on this site I found the Cannon C50GLS (silver) freestanding gas cooker at Dixons for £218.54 delivered, using the 5gascook code for 5% off.

I searched for over a week for a cooker at a good price and this is a very good price for this cooker. Even the comparison sites show it as £50 - 80 more than this at Dixons.

Get it while you can. This shows in stock using my Birmingham postcode.

hope this helps someone else.

Beware: It is only a "toy" sized one... 500mm wide, not 600mm as most kitchen units are spaced for cookers. Big gaps at each side for the spills to clog up and look awful!

Small Kitchen so need the 50cm width.
Replaces a cooker of the same size.

500mm is standard its a free standing cooker

Think this is one of the new italian merloni made models, yet to see the quality of them yet.

Hi Choc1969. Thanks for your help yesterday.

Good price above, more so now that Dixons have put their price up on the Silver version.
The 5 year warranty is parts only and the model says coming soon so I guess its not in stock at the moment.

Its metric thats the 1970's, it was imperial measurements in the 1960's and their wasnt a standard, my mom's 1968 Stoves Gas Cooker is 19"

Its standard kitchen fitting placment not cooker fitting so blame the kitchen designers, they wanted it that size.

Sorry all this is so wrong for you, so many of your posts are negative its silly, so dont moan about it.

to be exact you get

standard
500mm gas
500mm electric
550mm electric

rangecookers
900mm both
1000mm both
1100mm both
1125mm both

Utter and absolute RUBBISH.

One thing is true though - I definitely moan when I hear misleading rubbish like what you have posted here :-(

I suppose the FREESTANDING Electrolux gas cooker I have is unusual at 596mm then? No, it is a cooker designed to fit in a modern kitchen, which has a 600mm wide opening. There are many around, I wasn't stuck for choice, but they are OBVIOUSLY, a little dearer on average than smaller ones.
Have a look in Comet (for a simple example, the first retaileer that came into mind) and here are the first THREE 60cm cookers I saw:
comet.co.uk/sho…84P
comet.co.uk/sho…0D0
comet.co.uk/sho…DHW

There are GAS, ELECTRIC and DUAL FUEL cookers in this size.
There are many more that seem to have missed your attention, but that is plenty to illustrate the worthlessness of your post.

There is a simple common sense reason I have been warning people, as this sort of rubbish is something that is NOT new to me, it is based on personal knowledge and the deliberate spread of misinformation seems common among the worms who pose as "salesmen" who are merely interested in selling, not providing a customer service with it: -
My mother was messed about by a salesman with a similar lack of knowledge or deliberate misleading intent (take your pick) a few years ago, told they were "all standard size" when they are NOT, and she ended up with one of these toy-town cookers, and couldn't get them to replace it, so has been stuck with a hideous muck harbouring gap either side since.
Seeing as most other appliances do follow roughly standard sizes, those who know no better are easy targets for lying salesmen who will make a sale at any cost :-(

Now if my MOANING saves somebody spending their hard earned cash because of the type of misinformation you are peddling, then I will be very happy, as I have a LOT of very practical advice to give people on MANY subjects, and have a lifetime of experience as well as technical knowledge on a host of subjects.

I would hate for you to be given any advice that might benefit you, so why don't you do what *I* am going to do now USE THE IGNORE FUNCTION, and you will never have to hear me moan again, just as I will never again have to experience your useless misinformation.

Sorry mate but I just couldnt resist just for the reaction cus I knew you would, ya didnt let me down.

I purposely left out 600mm and even made a another error as well see if you would pic it up rangecookers 1125 should be 1250.

I have to say you do go OTT with your posts like the ones on the EI system refurb about the dual core, it isnt a core 2 duo,etc

You do dumb down people on these forums and it can be taken as rude. Searching the web and all doesnt mean what you see is accurate. You may well feel it's helps but a lot of people can find the info out for themselves when they need to and not have what someone calls the be all and end all info dont question my gospal responses you have been giving, but each to their own as you say I gotta read your posts just for the funny factor, but I do under stand you are trying to help but your responses are not my cup of tea.

If people was good genuine advice for the experts (the trade) then they can go to www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk

Ive been buying selling fitting cookers for all my working life, well actually now I get my engineers to do it for me.

I still sell twice as many 500mm cookers than 600mm, they are still the most popular as the 600mm is the Euro standard fitting and UK fell in-line with that around 1992 as production was moved to European bases from the UK, I use to drive to Parkinson Cowan in Birmingham to collect my cookers in the old days.

For info this isnt actually a very good machine lot of heat dispersal and the knobs are **** and break thankfully sold my last one a month ago and that got direct replaced by Merloni as it was faulty at fitting.

On and for the 3 you list, Never buy a Prestige ****** Italian Elba made badge pile of poo!
The Hotpoint the timer fails regularly and the cerams arent that good.
The Cannon is actually a great appliance, nice and simple
