Was looking for a decent cheap printer as sick of going to the shops to pay 80p a time so this will suit me
good price but Canon is very stingy. The starter inks supplied are for only charging the system and will run out quick!
With printers it is vitually irrelevant what the price is.
More important is how fast it is and are inks combined or are they separate colour cartidges for each colour and how much are replacement ink cartidges?
Does anyone have this printer who can say how much eBay cartidges are?
2 cartridge system (black & multicolored). The cartridges tend to dry out a lot if not used. Refill system about £8 - £14 but very messy. Genuine inks in xl are about £40, non genuine are £20 ( just hold red button down on printer until lights start to flash to bypass low ink level warning as the inks can't be reset when filled) and continue printing until faded.

Set an alert for laser printer on HUKD. Probably 1 a week appears around the £100 mark. Got mine 4 years ago and still on the same cartridges. Works out for 1p per page monochrome and 5p per page for colour. These inkjets cost about 5-10 times as much.

£32.99 if you don't need colour

Are they decent for photos these days? (Not professional level but good enough for home photos e.g. of the baby, to give grandparents, etc)

Photos come out fine on my laser printer using proper photo paper. I wouldn't call them pointless but anyone with more than a few photos to print would get a company to print them for a tenth of the cost
