Word of warning for Evan's Cycles, particularly clearance items.

You can add 99 to your basket (and i doubt they have 99)

Their social media is a mess of awful reviews right now. If the bikes even get delivered, a lot are broken or "lost" in transit.

Taking far more than the 11-15 days or so they say on their website. Some saying 2 months for items that aren't even bikes! (Accesories, helmets, etc).

This is a hot deal and I've voted as such. But be careful if you jump in.

And I highly recommend paying with a Credir Card for the extra protection.

Those wheels will be a bit bumpy around Craggy Island, Father.
Conurr. Evans are a mess. Not sure what's wrong, must be some warehousing change since being purchased?

Basically you can order something, then get an email a week later saying that item wasn't in stock. Happened to me twice in a row from Sept to Dec last year. I've been ordering from Evans for the best part of a decade and never had that happen.

I avoid them now, too many options around to put up with that sort of easily avoidable delay.

Omg 😯 this is super deal!
Was considering this didn't know Mike Ashley was driving the bus will give it very wide berth
As others have mentioned, I’d definitely avoid Evans at the moment. Clearly can’t handle the amount of orders that have been placed over the last few months.

I placed an order on the 23rd April (order still says waiting). Reply emails state they can take 10-15 days to get back to you & their phones are off. Nightmare.

I’ll second that.

Ah yes Triuk. They do have some class deals. You can haggle with them too. I got a P2 from them in 2018 for just under 1200. Nice grey colour too.

TT bikes are quite hard to sell I hear so you can really get a good deal if you pick up the phone or email in.
25c tyres? No

Do you even cycle Bro? What would you expect on Triathlon Bike 47c?
Anyone suggest a decent entry hybrid bike? I know very little about bikes but want something decent (reliable) without breaking bank.. Many thanks for advice.

This bike is not a "decent entry hybrid bike". Whatever the heck that means, lol, I'm pretty sure this isn't it.

If you give some idea of what your budget is I might be able to suggest something. "Without breaking bank" doesn't really mean much does it?
Tektro - no. Ever.

Is there a more upper class sport than triathlons ? Polo maybe ?
Markds5017/05/2020 21:20

Cannondale-Slice-105Cheaper here?

Also owned by Mile Ashley. So he’s charging £100 more at one of his shops than one of his others, that’s just wrong
Can this be used as an everyday commute bike around central London instead of a normal road bike?

TBH Evans was a car crash before Mike Ashely bought them, he is just another reason to avoid, my least favourite chain. Looks like a better deal at Tri ( see other post).
By 'upper class' do you mean 'expensive'? Triathlon isn't upper class BUT there are some people who chuck a lot of money at kit. As with all most every sport it's ability, skill and training that makes all the difference.

I'd put anything involving horses, motorsports, golf, sailing, ahead of sports with cycling involved.

Can anyone guide me on cycle size? I'm 180cm with a inside leg measurement of 84cm. Thought I'd be a medium or large, but looking on Cannondalde's site where they use the inside leg measurement, I'm a XXL?

Anything we could suggest right now would be out of stock all over.

oh well.. When back in stock anything particular you would have recommended.. Would use it for sometimes short commute and leisure really..
Never seen so many cyclists in my life since this coronavirus. Got full family cycling everywhere at the moment. Even big fellas that can hardly fit on a bike I've seen cycling around. Done some good this lockdown

Grab something second hand on eBay or Gumtree. Flat bars and 30+ tyres. High chance of it getting stolen too. Buying second hand bikes is a minefield if you're new to cycling and not much of a home mechanic, so you could grab some examples from eBay and Gumtree then post them up here in the misc or ask sections and get them vetted. Lots of road cyclists and MTB'ers here that can chip in (cyclists love giving opinions).

Something like this is what I'm guessing you're after?

Could be large, or X-Large. Something around a 57cm top tube length. Will vary by manufacturer but basically if a bike says it's a size 54 or 55 it's going to be too small most likely. Good luck on the hunt
