DetailsCannondale Supersix EVO Dura Ace

There is no compromise on quality with this lightweight road racer. The SuperSix EVO is always a favourite of racers and reviewers around the world, and this bike delivers all the benefits at great value.

Getting off to a flyer, it boasts the glorious 9100 Shimano Dura-Ace groupset, unusually good for a bike in this price range. The previous (9000) groupset was already excellent, and has simply been tweaked to outstanding! The marginal gains have been made in the front mech and with the shifting. The new brakes have increased clearance for 28mm tyres.

Cannondale have built flex zones (called SAVE) into the full carbon fibre frame and fork (ultra light BallisTec Carbon Construction). These add compliance and comfort to the responsive ride whilst remaining ultra-stiff under acceleration.

A brilliantly balanced, superbly capable ultra-light race machine.

"The SuperSix is fast, flighty, firm and phenomenal" read BikeRadar's full 4.5./5 star review of the 2018 SuperSix Evo Dura Ace* here.

Features

  • SuperSix EVO, BallisTec Carbon, Di2 Compatible frame
  • SuperSix EVO, BallisTec Carbon fork
  • Cannondale HollowGram Si, Carbon Clincher wheelset
  • Shimano Dura Ace drivetrain components & brakes
  • Approximate weight: 7.1 kg

A cracking deal for a well respected road bike. Mostly Dura-Ace and a good set of wheels for this price point.

good reduction.
Are these the ones with the dodgy forks?
Isn't there some problem with the stem or something on these that you cannot tighten it enough? Is that what you mean by dodgy forks?

I can recall seeing a youtube video or two on peeved off owners. Might be a different Cannondale.

It is the CAADX that had a recall.

2 second google search to find that out.

You were unsure, so why not check before commenting?? Odd.

Bickering, LOL.

Not a bad deal but a bit niche. An old frame with a mechanical rim groupset is fine I suppose but not on-trend. Everyone is after discs and electric these days (exaggeration alert).

Bet it's a great ride though, especially on the hills. Ugly chainset mind.

Not sure myself why so many seem keen on discs. Good rim brakes seem fine. I can see an advantage on wet days for discs but I have to admit I tend not to bother cycling on those days other than my short commute.

Powerful braking ability. Can be the difference between an accident or not

You knew but you thought you'd be an idiot. Nice one.

but good rim brakes can also lock up a wheel. To get better braking with discs won't larger tyres be required?
SpamJavelin15/08/2019 21:24

Ugly chainset mind.

But it's one of the best performing. Very stiff and light, better than Shimano, Sram, FSA etc offerings. Even moreso if it was the SiSL2 version with 10 arm rings.
I've just spent two days fiddling with my 1993 MTB,
I'm now thinking it is probably time to upgrade...
This would look nice.....rusting in my shed.

Comfort!, you can go for bigger tyres with disc brakes.
always conscious of the bottom brackets on cannondale bikes. love the colour though

A little lighter but the SiSL2 is quite a bit better. On one hand it's easier to clean than DuraAce but you can't get a LH PWM for it (AFAIK). It is a tasty bike and one pros would have sat on last year.

Only people of limited ability say 'nice one' at the end of sentences - it is their lack of vocabulary. Try to get those IQ points up.

True but don't the weight weenies get upset over such superfluous extra weight...

Couple of upsides for me: more consistent performance across multiple weather conditions and doesn't wear out the rims. As someone who has burnt through more than one set of expensive, carbon rims through brake track wear, this latter one is really important!

Downsides: perhaps a bit more faffy and the curse of the squeaky brake. When you have it, it's a bastard to cure!

I think I read that altering the toe-in was the fix for this?

(I know nothing about bikes, so sorry if this is obvious to cyclists or something)

For regular brakes, absolutely. For disc brakes, sadly it's not as simple :/

Understand. I only have std alloy rims so wearing them out would not be an issue plus they seem very durable.

Well, it may be an 'old' frame, but it still works as well as when it was introduced. Dura-Ace rim brakes are powerful and modulate well. This is a balanced mix of parts on a respected frame at a decent price - retailers are sniffing the end of the season so it's a good time for deals. I have a Super Six Evo and it's a blast to ride.
