Canon 1000d dSLR Digital Camera £321.98 inc postage. This has just been released by canon. This is body-only which is a great deal as the kit lens is rubbish. Buy a good quality lens instead of the kit lens and you'll really notice the difference. Top kit and brilliant price!

Ok - I'm posing who wants to take a picture?? hehe xxxx

Good camera but hardly a hot deal as only about £2 cheaper than lots of places.

I wouldn't say that. It might not be a great lens, but it is good for a spare for use when you don't want to use a best lens, or for trying out the camera until you decide what focal length lenses you do want to buy.

Actually I agree with the OP, Not really much point in paying good money for a camera with great sensor and image processor then sticking a cheap piece of plastic in front of them.

Money you save on missing out on the kit lens you can get a standard 50mm 1.8 with, may not have the focal range but is about five million percent more usefull.

On my 400D, I bought the kit lens, simply because at the time it was about £15 more expensive to buy it with than without. I have taken many decent photos with the kit lens. It taught me that for the shots I take, I tended to use wide angle a lot. I now have upgraded to a wide angle 10-20mmlens and the 50mm lens. If I had only ever used the 55m end, then I would have stuck with just the new 50mm lens, but since I was using the wide angle end a lot, I knew it was worth investing in a wide angle. I occasionally still use the kit lens, especially if I need to travel light and only take one lens. It may not be a great lens, but I don't think it is right to say it is rubbish.
