7D if you can afford the extra. Only as its a more pro camera. 650 has gimmicks like touch screen which can frustrate.

As said above this does come with the standard 18-55mm lens. This deal was posted previously (http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/canon-eos-650d-536-92-asda-direct-1474566) and someone brought it and confirmed it came with the lens. And in the reviews I have heard nothing but praise for the new touch screen (easy access to menus etc). The Asda website really have made it confusing though.
Cheers anyway all!

7D is soon to be replaced (possibly by upgraded 70D instead), so expect prices to start coming down more if that's what you are after. 650D is a Great camera - just wish it had come out when I was in market to buy, as ended up getting 60D instead! Hot for price - particularly UK spec!

Has anybody got confirmation that the item comes with a lens.. Asda are advertising another 650d incl lens at £809 ... Really want to buy now!

"It's a more pro camera" is not a reason to choose one camera over another. What features are you saying the 650D lacks which people will likely need?

Of course the 7D has more features - it costs more than twice the price. But the 650D has a swivel screen, and it's much smaller and lighter. Most importantly, it has the same sensor as the 7D - so you're getting exactly the same image quality.

A beginner to SLR photography isn't going to miss any of the features that the 650D lacks. Most people, if they've got over a grand to spend on SLR gear, would benefit far more by buying a 650D, and spending the extra money on additional lenses.

Depends how much more you'd be paying.

The 18-135 is a great all-round lens. You've got more than twice the zoom range of the 18-55 that comes with the kit here. You also get auto-focus during video recording, which you don't get with the 18-55.

The 650d has better noise performance than the 7d as it's much newer, so it really does depend what you want. You've made a blanket statement. I could rock up and say get a 5d3 because it's more pr0... yes it is... but it is also in a different price league.

Time to replace the ageing 350D..

I got me 650D with 18-135mm STM for £585 in jan. Happy. At this price , really good.

Argh!! Hot....UK...Deals...powerless...to...resist!!!

Been looking for a decent DSLR for a while and missed out on the recent 600D refurb earlier in the week. Have read up a lot more though this seems to be a better camera and obviously, brand new!!

On a side note, can Cannon use third party lenses with adapters or is it strictly Canon only??

personally I would say go for a 60d, rather than a 7d if looking to buying first slr and want a choice other than 650d, 7d doesn't really have a creative mode as the 650 and 60d which is useful for a new slr user, plus no pop up flash so you will need to factor a flash gun if you need flash. As for 7d being old hat loh it had a firmware upgrade last year which gave it some added range, its got some good video facilities which seem to really impress some. As for a swivel screen im old school and prefer using the view finder. At the end of the day the more you pay the more features you get but the big but is have you the ability to use and apply those features ie full manual, tv, av etc... Or if you prefer to have creative modes ie portrait landscape sports modes etc....at a flick of the dial.
I have heard of people who bought the 7d saying it was crap selling and buying a 60d only because the 60 was easier.
if a 70d comes out it will be a replacement to the 60d which no longer sports a magnesium body and weatherproothing.

You buy a third party lense that states canon compatible, sigma and others make compatibles for the main slr fitments ie Sony, canon and nikkon.

The description does say body only, the lens is only shown in the picture I don't think it's included in the purchase...

The lens is shown in the image and the ASDA deal says "lens kit".

If you read the previous posts you'll see this deal has been posted before (at a higher price) and buyers have confirmed that, as in the image and the title at Asda, it is the lens kit.

You're right that in the description it says body only; but descriptions are often wrong.

Hahaha, I stand corrected.... It does, just looked at mine. For some odd reason I visualised a 5d.. Have never used the flash as prefer a gun.
