Heat from me. Been using mine for about 3 years and love it!
I purchased this kit.. Got it for a good price.. wish I got a 7D for action etc.
Worth posting the previous thread here and the thread if you're willing to buy the import for the Mk iii with the same lens hotukdeals.com/dea…759. Decisions, decisions!!!???!!!!
Any reviews out there? Is it as good as the iPhone 5 camera?
Damn good camera and lens, but I can't justify spending the money when I rarely use my 40D :-(
voted cold as had one since they came out still a fantastic camera but not enough price drop to become HOT as I payed £2300 for same kit 3 yrs ago so were do they get the £3000 that retail
You can get a brand new Canon 6D with the same 24-105L lens for over £200 less here. The 5DII is a great camera, but the 6D is over 3 years newer and offers significantly better low light performance.

Inhuman would you pay all of this when the iPhone 5 camera is so much cheaper than this and better in my opinion anyway.
Not reflecting on this in particular but,

To be honest... buying from Amazon, who's to guarantee it be a grey import?
The amount of electrical stuff I buy, only later to find out it ships with a UK plug adapter. Urgh!

But with HDEW isn't there questions about if VAT has been paid? (Read the small print on the site which states using the site means you are liable for any local taxes and duties)
I'll be selling my two 5D Mark II's Body's shortly.
awesome camera's just selling for upgrades, cannot beat what you get out of this camera for the price!

The bit in bold is the BS.
Get a 6D instead.
I don't get why you would get this over the 6D either, sure the image quality is the most important thing and the rest of the features aren't bad too. you can remote shoot from a smart phone with the 6D right out of the box for example. imo this should be way cheaper. it only looks cheap if you look at the massively inflated mkiii

for iphone users this camera is worse than an iphone 5 for taking photographs; its a bit too complex for them. They need something quite simple apparently; maybe a pin hole camera?.

Only 11 focus points I think on the 6D is the obvious drawback; Maybe people shooting sports etc would benefit from the better focus system in the 5D Mkii.

Have you ever tried a 5D MkII for sports? I sold my 5D MkII to get the 6D, it's so much faster and accurate with moving targets.

They'd benefit from the 7D more than either of those. I now shoot with the MKIII and would take the 6D over the MKII anyday.

Ok thanks that's interesting.
Although it's gone up a bit now, B&H were selling the mark 3 with this lens for $3600 a few months back.
When I'm ready to get a full frame, I certainly be favouring the mark 3 over mk2 or the 6D. And as a walkabout lens, I'm keen on the much derided 24-105mm with IS - apparently worth a couple of stops so better (for me anyway) than the new and very expensive 24-70 2.8 mk2.

The 5d Mk III is much better than both though (apart from lack of internal Wifi and GPS). I originally had a couple of 5D's then bought a MkII - which was better than the MkI but still suffered from a not great autofocus. For fast moving stuff I bought a 2nd hand 1D MkII (for £500) which blew the 5dMKII out of the water for speed (though much noisier at higher iso + only being 8mp - not that the latter actually matters much). I was happy with the MkII, but always wanted a wifi unit for remote triggering/uploading - sadly that unit was an additional £500-600, so when the 6D came out I was more interested in that.

The 6D has it's compromises over the 5DMkII

Slightly Lower MP (not that it really matters)
Video isn't meant to be as good
SD instead of CF cards (though it's not an issue to be honest)
Slower Flash Sync (1/180 vs 1/200) - not been an issue yet for me.
Slower maximum shutter (1/4000 vs 1/8000) - this is a minor annoyance for the times outdoor when shooting at big apertures.

Possibly the worst thing I've found is the lack of autobrightness on the LCD screen - pointless omission from Canon TBH.

The Grip looks ugly as well.

What's the difference between this and a high-end pocket camera with a decent sensor?

Lucky you. I was going to post the 6D body price a few months ago (was about £400 cheaper than most iirc) but asked two questions just to make doubly sure about the prospective deal. Didn't hear anything back from them.
