Good lens, would I get much use out of it?
The price is not bad, you can get Jessops to price match and get interest free credit for 2 years

If you don't need the wider end of it, the 200mm f/2.8 Prime is half the price. I've got one and it's fantastic.

Agreed! The 200mm 2.8L is an outstanding lens. Though a little heavy if using all day! Definitely a better choice!

Really? Have you done it?
oos
"Cracking lens" ?. I'd expect an un-cracked lens for this kind of money
Not willing to splash the cash on this, but definitely a 'life lens' - despite the lack of 'full weather sealing'.

Very good price, think these are still hand built in Japan - may be mistaken on that though.

Gotta get that L badge of honour though, am I right?
just started on the DSLR jourrney. Using a EOS 550D with 18-55 (Ebay) and 55-250 lense is stm £105. Will look at the serious gear later.
Out of stock
I have the f4 IS version. A lot lighter and still superb optically.

I was about to try it today, but oos now, should have bought it yesterday but 19% interest from Currys is a bit too much
Hi everyone, i am going to buy canon 100-400 lens. Any advice whether to buy a used 1st gen for about £700 or to buy new 2nd genv from grey market for abot £1300. Thanks

If your budget stretches that far, I’d go for the Mkii. Far better image quality, 4stop IS compared to 2stop on the Mki. And Twist zoom, better than the pump zoom. Far better lens, but saying that, the Mki is still a great lens for the price!
That was a very good price! Pity I missed it.
Amazing quality. Had mine 2 years. I now also have large biceps!
one left in Heathrow if anyone is travelling soon
Great lens, I have one, The MK III version is imminent though.
