Also, this is the image stabilised lens which has superior optics to the non-IS version.
Isn't that because the 1000D doesn't have IS so you have to have a lens with it?
Great price although I'm holding out for a bargain on the 450D.
( 3 X 100 + 1 on purchase )
same here. where is the cheapest you have found it???
good price for the 1000D but its not for people with big hands.
Amazon were looking pretty good but I haven't had a proper look for a few days.
Would that work?
The extra £10 from Argos is a voucher though isn't it? You could put it towards a memory card I suppose but they're pretty expensive in Argos.
Review here [cameralabs.com/rev…tml
Done this 3 times recently when they've had the offer on worked twice without any problems and the third time (PS3 £299) the salesman said the manager said they couldn't do it any more but after going through the small print there is nothing wrong in the process and they had to honour it, any doubts tell them what you intend to do first and any problems tell them you'll take your custom elsewhere (that normally does the trick ) present offer ends on Dec 2nd i think, and of course the saving is in the way of vouchers that you have to use in-store only.
"This offer is not available with the purchase of Argos gift cards."
I know some people have had success wit it though, so I will try it tonight.

Got 1000d kit 1 month ago, which cost £319
Jacobs have it for £420. So minus £50 c/b means £370, which is getting close to bargain territory.
Thanks for that Max Cady & hotisgood.
Just wanted to know as I am going to email the details to my mate as he may be interested in one of these.
Cheers.
No Canon camera has IS built in. Good thing too because if IS end up faulty you still have a fully functional camera.
Right in the middle.
Review: dcresource.com/rev…ew/
I just compared the two cameras for my son's Christmas present.and went for the 1000D. 450D has a few better specs (12Mp vs 10Mp, 3" vs 2.5" screen, screen auto off when using viewfinder, 3.5fps vs 3, slightly better finish, etc) but nothing sufficient to justify the substantial price difference at the moment on what is a first DSLR. Also there's a voucher for half price on an introductory photo course with the 1000D only - not wanted by everyone but very useful for someone new to serious photography.
Ask in 5 shops and you'll get at least 10 views on DSLRs but Canon seems to be the most consistently recommended, followed by Nikon. Very mixed to poor views on the others. Sony are perhaps next in line and appear good value but they are very bulky and you're stuck with Sony Memory sticks, which are expensive.
One thing to bear in mind with Canon: if you want more lenses they are expensive if you want to maintain IS, eg about £250 for a 70-300 zoom, £350 for 18-200. However, Canon lenses have an excellent reputation. Once you've started with Canon lenses you can always update the body later if you get hooked.
I got it when flying (Dixons tax free) £408 minus the £50 cashback, only applicable if flying of course or if know someone flying who can pick one up for you.
Someone else found a cheaper way which required getting a certain card, MBNA and buying comet vouchers with it, made it slightly cheaper.
Also found this handy spreadsheet when I was looking, obviously prices could vary now
spreadsheets.google.com/pub…SVA
Also if looking for a carry case for one, this one jacobsdigital.co.uk/ind…007
It's current;y 18.99 at Amazon but was only £14 the other week and i used a 2.50 voucher so good deal on that, probably decent value at 18.99 still
I will just add whenever you see sports events and you see those huuuge white lens you can be pretty sure they are Canon. Saying that paparazzi tend to use Nikon I suspect because they have a better and more consistant flash system whilst Canon seem to be a little behind in this respect.
Misinformed information there regarding Sony, at least in their DSLR range, they don't use Memory Sticks, they utilise the far more robust Compact Flash Cards instead, which I am surprised this camera doesn't, most DSLR use sturdy CF
yeah play.com help u m8
they DO come with IS lense.
the lenses come with NIKON kits are better than CANON's.
It does come with an IS lens, the standard kit lens for 1000D has IS
