The site is operated by Digital River - a reseller specialising in internet and not Canon. Their customer service is atrocious and delivery network is sh.. I ordered a 550D back in december and had to cancel the order in late january when it had not arrived. Had to threaten them with small cliams court to get the money refunded.

Amazing value...

I can't see if the kit lens is the IS version, if not then avoid this as the 75-300 lens really isn't much to write home about. I can recommend the 1000d as a good way to enter the world of dslr's as I cut my teeth with one. I'm gonna be sad to see it go when I eventually get round to advertising it on ebay.

I don't think it is the 18-55 IS, should be just a mk II.

This is a good price, but the feedback on some of the better cameras is pretty poor. I have been looking at the 500D but am put off by the negs!

I have a 1000d and a 500d and love them both :-)

Atrocious feedback for buying a £300 item off.

I'd avoid them like the plague and the title of this is misleading

Feedback speaks for itself. I would avoid for sure

Feedback and Digital River clarification aside, the criticisms of the OP about it not being Canon's outlet are unfair - if there is only one official ebay outlet for Canon, then that is what it is, even if they've outsourced the operation.

Shame if the company is poor, but PayPal/eBay are pretty good if you have a problem, this is a lovely camera for the money.

I have used the 75-300 to take some fast shots of aircraft, as long as the lighting is good, you will get some fab results.

Is there macro on the lens?

The Canon 1000d is a pretty poor effort, as are canon kit lenses. If you're going to go canon at least get something in the xxxd range.

I have played with the 1000D many times and felt it was a cheap plastic toy. But if it's cheap its cheap..I would rather save up a few extra quid though. And ftr, it looks on the ebay auction title that you might get a Rebel XS which is the USA version of the 1000D..shouldn't change much..just making y'all aware

The MFD (minimum focal distance) on this lens is 0.9 feet so no.

Can you explain how you come by this conclusion? 97.5% +ve does not equal 7 complaints per 100.

If you divide +ve by the equivalent -ve + neutral, you don't get 7 per 100.

If anything I'd look at the -ve feedbacks and suspect that a lot of buyers are using the system to complain about Canon's product not the seller.

I got my Canon SLR from them a few years ago, and the service was exemplary, although I'd probably avoid refurbished products.

I don't think you'll ever get ripped off and lose your money, it's just the inconvenience of jumping through the hoops.

I disagree with all the negative comments about Digital River, I have just bought a Canon eos 550d 2 weeks ago from them and it was an amazing deal for £380 including the latest kit lens. I had a problem with a button sticking on the camera and I was offered a full refund or to have the camera repaired by a Canon service centre, being such an amazing deal and not wanting to return the camera I sent it off for repair, the repair was turned around in 4 days from being sent to arriving back repaired. My experience with Digital River was fine, they replied quickly to my emails so I don't see why people are moaning, you could have a bad experience with any seller on eBay. You still have a full years warranty from Canon so I say go for it and do not listen to the negative bottom feeders who always find something to complain about however good a service they have been given.

wow nice, how you get the 10% voucher ?

Digital River is Canons official outlet for refurbished products, they have a years warranty the same as new Canon products.

They send vouchers to inactive accounts, to bring you back...

I don't think the current cash back promotion will work on this???
