Each to their own on this one, but I moved away from Canon after the crazily cheap offer with £200 cashback for the Panasonic GX80 came along. Smaller, lighter and with great IQ.
But if you just want to dip your feet in the water when it comes to interchangeable lens camera systems then this is a decent place to start. Personally I'd sell the 75-300 without using it, stick it on ebay "as new" and pick up a cheap, used 55-250 IS - a great little lens, and a steal for the money.

Same price in Argos and a good little walk around camera. Bought one to use when I don't want to carry my 70D

The price in Argos is £449 (before the £30 CB) http://www.argos.co.uk/product/4131432

Surely the JL deal is much cheaper, or am I missing something ? This seems a cracking deal for this camera.

ofc it depends what your needs are
gx80 is probably my top choice for value atm but you need to look at more than just base body price
canon is probably the best value for expanding to a good wide/standard/tele setup
naturally its much bigger etc but know your own needs

We have a panasonic TZ60 which is more of a point and shoot style camera, would this be a good upgrade and starting point into taking better photos?
The TZ60 doesn't perform that well when taking pictures in low light, and the camera flash gives all photos a really warm hue.

well yeah for the same focal lengths this is much better but its also much bigger and doesnt cover the same range
the kit lens gets the same views as using up to 1-3x zoom on your tz60 whilst the 75-300 is like using the tz60 in its 3-16 times range

ordered. Can cold voters tell me why? 'it was cheaper before' is not a valid reason for voting cold, this is the best deal around right now. Thanks to worldranger for the advice on the 55-250 IS STM. Anyone want a new 75-300? ;-) (NB bought to replace a very old 350D recently dropped - not by me - so Canon is my pref as I have some other kit)
