Jessops:A few 1300D deals being posted this weekend. This seems to be the cheapest with two lenses for only £329. The 50mm 1.8 is a fantastic portrait lens too. Works out only £30 for the 50mm lens with the 1300D 18-55mm generally at £299

Looks like a good deal to me. Heat!
not bad - the more expensive deal with 10-18 is possibly a little cheaper when you look at the additional lens value but it just depends what you are actually wanting
£20 more gets you the Currys deal with the additional 75-300 lens.

No 50mm lens though
God, i am looking at cameras now but am a beginer and have no idea

I take it the lower the mm is close shots and higher is for zooming?

There is a few deals out there with curries and argos too but still not sure what one to get as a starter

The lower the mm the wider the angle the lens works at, taking a landscape picture you would get a wider view with a 14mm than a 25mm. the higher the mm the more closer it will bring the image, a bird in a tree would appear closer with a 300mm than it would with a 200mm.

I’d say:

- Jessops 50mm kit ideal for portrait and everyday
- Currys 75-300mm kit for zoom (travel/safari) and everyday
- Argos 10-18mm kit for wide angle (landscape/architecture) and everyday. Also includes the 1TB storage station as a bonus

But surely you have 50mm with the 18-55 zoom?

But you get the 50mm at f1.8 rather than approx f5.6 on the 18-55mm kit lens which will make a massive difference to the photos you take

The 50mm fixed lens should give you better quality images as there is less glass between the sensor and the image than the 18-55 lens at 50.

The 50mm is also a faster lens so better in low light conditions and better at separating the foreground by blurring the background, useful for portraits and cinematic videos.

Thanks JimmyLo & Bendown.

Think I will go for the Curries option since it should give me the best of both worlds with near and far lenses, dont need the share station as will connect via wifi

The 75-300 is a very average lens, without IS it will be usable only in bright light conditions. The 50mm/1.8 and 10-18mm are good image quality lenses and IMO more useful and helpful for a starter to develop his skills. Shame that have to pay on the Argos deal for the useless dock station.
