Is this worth the 30 quid or so extra from the deal with the smaller lense? ;

No imo, both lenses are the very bottom end of canons line up, without IS, so ideally you need bright light or tripod. At least the other bundlehas the 50mm/1.8 which is a very decent lens, give you some after sunset shooting and background separation capabilities.

Just keep in mind you are buying low end, ok for the price if that's your budget, personally I would prefer to spend couple hundred quid more, and get stabilization on the kit lens, one prime and a more decent telephoto lens if you need one, like the 55-250 if it's canon.
