According to this vid, the telephoto is the worst lens Canon has ever made.

One of the worst af zoom lenses ever supposedly. No IS, crap sharpness, slow and hefty. This is a terrible camera anyway but that lens is bundled because they have to give it away.
Everything about this is pretty bad really. The camera itself isn't good, the zoom lens is really bad and the 18-55 kit lens is the old version and not the new STM one. You can likely do much better for the same amount of money or very little more. Somewhere should still have stock of the older Nikon D3400 or current D3500 for the same sort of money with lens or even a Canon 200D with the new kit lens is doable for about £400 and a much better camera.

"Why rely on your smartphone to capture the moment?"

Because I don't want carry a big camera and lens everywhere I go. I'd rather travel light and enjoy the experience for myself than worry about the perfect picture for the benefit of social media.

It's only a photo...enjoy the experience with your own eyes...the image has probably already been taken a million times before...

I know very little about cameras but I was looking at this camera the other night although sounds like it’s not very good? Anyone able to recommend a better alternative around this price? Or even up to a max £450ish?

I've got Canon 400D and 1000D and I'm happy with both of them, it's the 400D I use most of the time, lower spec than the 1000D, but a better camera. If you buy a Canon DSLR I recommend the 55-250 IS telephoto, cracking lens for the money. My opinion is that the quality of a standard lens is less important, it's easier to make a good standard lens than a good telephoto so all standard (18-55) lenses are all right and IS doesn't really matter.

how many buying a 100quid lens have tried the better lenses? (they are surprisingly positive though)
you CAN get good photos with the lens, just you can get better ones and more easily with better lenses

The reviews are mostly good, just need to keep in mind the price, some friends i meet up with at Oulton park have lenses that cost nearly a thousand pounds and give great results.

me still on my 5 year old Sony hx10v.

one from last year

Did you mean 400D or 4000D?
Personally I have the Canon EF 70-300 IS USM lens. Not to be confused with the cheaper version bundled with this deal. This 70-300 is better than the 55-250.

took this on my old 550D with the 70-300 IS lens

who says the 70-300 is better (than 55-250) ? not seen a review that says that - other than the longer reach

Well, it's better build quality for sure, but I must admit it was quite some time ago i bought it, so not entirely sure how I concluded the 70-300 was better. I suspect that as I always intended to buy a full frame ( I now also have a 6D), i discounted the 55-250 as it is a EFS fit therefore would not be compatible. So if you intend to stick with a budget DLSR, the 55-250 is more appropriate.

Errr. the 4000D is clearly a budget model.

ofc but then you were the one bringing up the 70-300 and your nonbudget fullframe camera saying it was better

I dont know what you point is mate? I admitted I had made a mistake in that the 70-300 was probably only better if you planned to go full frame at some point.

I did mean 400D. I don't think that you have the lens included with this deal, I think that you have a better version. I bought the 55-250IS because is had IS (and the 75-300 on offer didn't) and it cost me about £110 delivered. Nice photo, I think the quality of the photographer may have had something to do with it.
Is the Canon EOS 1300D better than this?
