Jessops are selling the Canon EOS 400D body only (and you wouldn't want the kit lens anyway by all accounts)for £406.95

Use the voucher JDSLRJ00 to get £20 off this.

Plus canon are doing £50 cashback on this model and don't forget Quidco for 3% (I think)

I make that £325.34 in total but I may be wrong

Nothing wrong with the 18-55 Kit lens at all. Ive taken some amazing shots with it.

Just watch out for quidco tracking.

I had to manually put a claim for it.

Took over 4 months to get the money.

Agreed, the kit lens is excellent value for money when you consider it.
Look at some of the reviews of it at places and they all conclude for the money its excellent and a perfect "starter" lens... which is exactly what the 400D is aimed at - an entry point to the DSLR market. Want something more - then go for the new 40D and some "L" lenses.

Hot deal. the 400d is an amazing camera.

Makes me laugh when people spend more on better camera and can only produce shots that most can on point and shoot.

semi pro camera. can compete with the big boys easyly.

pro canons for paps and photo journlists

Good to hear. I was only going by a couple of magazine reviews I have read, no personal experience of it at all.

Is it a camera you recommend? I am on the verge of jumping in on this

Why is this so cold? Can it be got cheaper elsewhere? This is a superb deal. Just get a Tamron or Sigma 18-200mm lens off ebay for about £150 and you're laughing.

If you don't want to spend that much then Amazon are doing the kit lens with it for £435. After the £50 cashback that's not bad at £385. In fact that's pretty amazing.

THis is a fantastic camera and a great price, but it can be made better.
Call Curry's on 08445 61 62 63
To take advantage of the 110% price match,

currys.co.uk/mar…ise

this means they patch the price and knock off 10% of the difference.
They only match with a few and it requires a phone call, but Jessops is one of them.

Curry's have the body only for £500 which will se eyou get it for
£386.95 - £11.31 = £375.64 (if you can wangle the inclusion of voucher)

Where this really pays of though and how I got mine is that Jessops call the body with 18-55 lense a 'lense kit'. Curry's call the Body, with 18-55 lense and a TAMRON AF50-200MM Lens a lense kit.

This only became apparent to me when I recieved the delivery, but I managed to get the camera lense kit and a £150 or so zoom lense for the price of Jessops going out of business rates minus 10 %

Worth a try if anyone is looking for the camera.

Think I have misread it.

Oops - Edited my post!

Great deal for a great camera. I have one and I can highly recommend it.

And just for the record, Simon_G is right - there is nothing wrong with the 18-55 Lens Kit. I have also taken some amazing shots with it. Snap it up! ;-)

£150 for an 18 -200 sounds pretty damn good. But at the long end (which is equivalent to 320mm on a 35mm camera) I am not sure I could handhold in all but the brightest conditions so I will be looking for one of the image stabilised lenses. Unfortunately that means big bucks unless my good friends here can help me out

All this talk of kit lens 18-55. Canon have announced a 18-55 IS (Image Stabilised) lens which was announced end August. Don't know what the price will be or if it will be available with the 400D soon before the cash back offers finish.

Excellent price for a great camera...

You shouldn't really have problems hand holding a 200mm lens on a Canon 400D, I've used a non IS 400mm zoom lens hand held and can get sharp photos using a high shutter speed. But to be certain you can always use a monopod

HI

I have been looking on ebay for several weeks for a canon 350d/400d, the prices are going through the roof, some bidders are bidding more than the camera is worth new.

so I have decided to go for a new 400d after reading these threads

Blacklodge. Was that a one off or is curry's still providing the TAMRON AF50-200MM Lens as a lense kit.see below
