agreed....its not much of an improvement over the eos400, slightly higher res and slightly better lens...but still not a full sensor (but then they cost a lot)....i used my eos400 at my bro in laws wedding, the wedding photgrapher had a brnad new nikon d3...very nice!!

slr photography is additctive (and expensive) tho....just about to get a new decent lens the 24-70 L which is about £800 (have the stock ****** 18-55mm, 50mm (well worth the £60!), tamron 70-300 (pretty good, non-canon lens ,speedlight, several bags, various filters)

i looked back at some pics id taken with my various point and shot cameras but the pics were truly awful - tho i had the sony dscu040, hp e327, hp m407 (well they are awful point and shots anyway)

The 400D and the 450D are running alongside each other. The 450D is NOT a 400D replacement.
Higher res isn't the winner with the 450D, it also has more sensitive, faster and more accurate focussing; higher bit-range (14vs12) that achieves a larger dynamic range; it's marginally faster; Live View; Highlight Priority;... the list goes on.

You won't ever get a FF (full frame) entry-level dSLR I'm affraid, the aim of the game at the entry-level is to keep the price down as much as possible.

In your description it says non-USM, as far as I'm aware, there isn't an 18-55 IS USM. You should change the title to reflect the newer IS kit lens this comes with, as one reason a lot of people don't like the 400D is the fact that the kit lens isn't great. Which is a shame. The IS version of the kit lens is great.

eh i never said the eos450 was a replacement for the eos400...the eos450 is better but its marginal so its not worth me upgrading from the 400 to the 450 (id rather upgrade to one the full frame ones at some point (not yet!!)

I also never said that you would get a fullframe in an entry level dslr (that why in brackets i said they cost a lot anyway)

wish people would reado comments first before responding

i didnt think the 18-55 is lens was any better, just it has IS which for 18-55 means youd have to have really bad shakes, eg been of the beers the night before, to take a bad shot....but i guess itll be useful for some as we arent all built the same..lol!

purelygadgets.co.uk/sho…6bg cheaper here plus 2% quidco and an 18 month extended warranty all for about 523.29 delivered

Sorry to do it again, but check ]this link, re: 18-55 IS, particularly the last sentence:

Once again, it's not just about the numbers and letters. Yes, it has IS, which at this focal length has its limited uses (indoor photography where you can't or don't want to use a flash, museums for example), but the glass itself is of far better quality than the non-IS version, making it a far superior lens. I think Canon have introduced this IS version to try to combat the IS built into other brands dSLR bodies, and to convey to people that they definitely aren't getting the ****** non-IS version.

I think this may be the same... hard to say cause they don't have a proper description...
