whats with the cold votes - have been looking for one of these for a while so if you can tell me where i can get it cheaper - please share

Is this just another case of people voting cold because its a lot of money for a quality camera.

see this link, without the "freebees"

take that as a yes then - have just bought one as thought good deal - would be happy for ppl to say its £50 cheaper here as would return it and buy from there but have searched the internet this was by far the best deal out there

Cheapest deal online (excluding Eb£y, clearance, sales gimmicks etc) for the body and 18-55 IS lens is £489 from RGB Tech (www.Camerapricebuster.co.uk).

Cheapest Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di LD Macro is Misfuds at £124.99 (delivered)

Sandisk Ducati 4GB SD Ultra II Card are approx £19.99 + delivery

The Lowepro Altus 160 seems to be exclusively made for DSGi at £39.99. This appears a small and overpriced bag compared to my Lowepro Slingshot bag which I got on a deal for £19.99.

Jessops are doing a similar kit for £615 with no bag! their kit contents are:

Canon EOS 450D with Canon 18-55mm IS lens
Tamron 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 lens
Sandisk Ultra II 4GB SDHC memory card

Good price at £563

It's like you say matengawhat, people just vote cold because they can buy a digital camera for £50. I have just upgraded from a 400D to a 450D. I am an enthusiast and the budget DSLR's serve me well.

Have some heat, and keep up the good work!

Argos are doing this deal at the moment which is a twin lens deal but both lenses are canon. As prices go at the moment the OPs deal is a good one, but I think canon are having a laugh putting all their prices up and now selling a camera that you could pick up over a £100 cheaper a few months back, see links such as

hotukdeals.com/ite…is/

A similar twin lens deal was also a lot cheaper a few months back.

I just dont see how when this camera isnt getting any newer, that canon can justify hiking up the prices.

new 500d has just come out so i think these will start to fall

Original Poster

the 500d is best part of £870 for the body so nearly twice as much - i wonder if they are going to drop something else in to their model line up inbetween

Indeed the new 500d is out, but if we go back a couple of years, when the 400d came out, that started at about £500, then the 450d came out at a similar price, and the 400d dropped. But to introduce the 500d £690 seems insane. Theres a video review of the new camera at whatdigitalcamera.com/vid…tml The review basicly shows that its a slight all round improvement on the 450d and now had HD movie mode, personally i want a DSLR for photos, if i want to take HD movies, I would buy a decent HD camera to do it with.

Cheapest deal i could find on the D500 (didnt look to hard though).

no IS on the 2nd lens , unless u got a really steady hands ,u ll have to have an IS one , still a good deal though .. i ve been looking into it for sometime now but i beleive that the Sony a350 with the twin lens is a much better value at £529
