Code is 10EOS (without the space)

Looks like the best price available.

Was about to order a Rebel XSI refurb from Ebay for £365, might spend the extra £30 now and get this!

It is the best price around at the moment and has been since just after xmas. I posted this when it was £20 more (still at comet) just before xmas and never got very hot, but it is still the cheapest.

Good price for a decent camera, although a little old now - it's been out two years or so.

Unless you are a pro, the limitimg factor for a DSLR is usually the user, not the camera

Where do you input the code? got all the way to confirm screen but no option for discount codes or vouchers?

This one has only 90 days seller warranty (not Canon) and you probably have to pay the postage.

Was in Currys the other day and had a look at all the DSLR's. The 450D might not be the latest model but, except for the dogy lens, the 450D was one of the better in terms of viewfinder brightness, manual focussing, and general handling. The much promoted Nikon 5000 is a newer model, but you can hardly see anything in the viewfinder, which is so dark and small (has a nicer LCD tho).

£390-isch is a good price and good value. Hot from me.

I agree. I have one! I'm surprised there is not a newer budget model after this time though. The 350D/400D/450D only had about a year between each of their release dates.

the 500D came out at least 6 months ago

i would go for the other deal on the fujipix, but then i prefer the optical zoom and other features... way over priced for me..

I'd go for a used 40D or 50D - the photo quality is a lot better.

Paid £499 just before xmas !!

Bummer

i have this camera and love it. My first ever SLR and here are some of my photos to see the quality (absoloute novice btw)

Very, very true. I'm sure my 20D is actually way more capable than I am!

Fuji is a completely different camera even if they look the same. Even with the price difference I'd say the 450D justifies it.

Great deal +1.

I paid £450 around a year ago, this is the first time i have seen it cheaper. great camera!

Got this at the end of November from comet for about £20 more and sent for the aopplication form to Canon immediately. I'm still waiting for my £30.

i'm hoping they will show the canon 550d or whatever the new model is at CES over the next 3 days, hopefully it can do 24/25/30fps 1080p video and have an external microphone jack.

I agree a great dslr for the price but I think the only downside is perhaps the size and weight. I would prefer a smaller and lighter camera such as the Olympus E420 or the new E620. Minor point.

Had this camera a little while now, I seem to get it saying 'busy' a fair bit to me and unable to take a shot.

Is this me just asking too much of it, using one of the fastest memory cards if that matters

the size is fine. If only this was the price of the 500d I got the 400d on offer for about £340 ish i think about 2.5yrs ago and that was when that was the top model, this isn't even the highest model and its still quite a bit more, canon sure are greedy:( exchange rate doesn't help either

The lens for this is the newer Image Stabilised version and has better optics than the old 18-55 non-IS lens. And the images from this camera will be no worse than those from the 40d - the limiting factor will be the user, as someone quite rightly said earlier.

Greta Camera - good learner one as it has decent fully automatic modes as well.

I'm a novice but I am struggling with the lens - the zoom is poor (better on my point and shoot)

Even a novice should expect to 'want' a better lens pretty soon.

Good price.

Unless you are cracking off 25 frames at 3fps then my money would be that your BUSY message is the flash recycling. I have the 400d (way better than ANY compact or bridge, anyone saying different on here is missing the point of DSLR!!) and it ONLY gives that message when I've taken 3-5 flash pix. Got a nice deal on a Speedlite 430exII and since then its never appeared

The size and weight aren't there just to make it feel more like its worth the money, both are unavoidable because the components are QUALITY, thats why the compacts are lighter, smaller sensors, smaller lens........ in the end the picture suffers

I'd say its definitely your problem, try making it do it and have a close look at the message, I think mine has a lightning bolt before it, if thats on yours its your flash100%

They simply aren't alternatives! Why bring that up in an SLR thread? You really don't understand what this is, do you?

I hear that all the pro's use compact fuji's in their studio's

The Canon's are a little too plasticy for my liking. Im a Nikon D80 user, nice solid cameras.

Ive had one of these for over a year and cant recommend it enough. On the advice of a wise friend i got the body only and spent extra on a Sigma 18-55 2.8 lens which ive found to be an excellent combination.

Not comparing like for like though there are we. I chose Canon because it wooped the ass of the Nikon in EVERY review and mainly because it felt better than the then equivalent at the time, the d40x Would I choose the D80 over a 50D..... no way jose!!!! :whistling:

I review of it made the following comments.

' Maximum ISO 1600. Most competitor model are up to 3200 ISO. Live View is slower than Sony’s models. Could use more weather sealing'

I could find you 10 reviews that would counter that though, take them with a pinch of salt, you only need a Canon lover doing a Canon review (and vice versa of course) and the review will be skewed. This is a good camera, of course some have better points (like the Samsungs weatherproofing) but they will also fall short of this one on something else
