That's what I thought, it's only this price as another dealer on there is selling at the same amount so once his stock goes I guess Amazon will bump there price over £600 pounds easy...

Great price

Lovely camera for a damn good price especially as I paid £549 only 3 weeks ago for mine.

Just ordered! Cracking deal.

Great price, but way too much for what I need

Complete amateur here but can someone explain why SLR cameras don't come with an in-built flash? I'm assuming it's because they're not "point and clicks" and should be used with appropriate lighting, etc... but it's a rather limiting factor, isn't it? And why the add-on flash modules for them cost about £100?

It does have a flash, as do many DSLR cameras. Many professional night photographers just feel the need to get a better flashlight to cater for their needs.

It's a great price but if your spending this sort of money I would seriously consider the 550D...all the reviews say its worth the extra to upgrade, I have one and it's a brill camera..

+1

550D is a FAR better camera.

Is it worth waiting for the Nikon 3100?
It shoots up to iso 12,800 and has auto focus in (full hd 1080p) video mode ...

Have you seen what Suzi Perry does with these to produce here own 3D Movie.Guessing it can be done with any (two) Cameras capable of recording video. Think it was episode 5 or 6 in the current season of the Gadget Show

Damm your hot Suzi 

For me I have held back on buying purely due to low funds gutted as this is a very good price at the min. Saying that Jessops had these on offer at £569.99 last weekend if anyone has vouchers.

I bought one of these from Amazon for £529 recently and its a wonderfull camera.

If the EOS550 is even better it must be something!

I do know however, that the 550 does 1080p recording at 50fps where the 500 only does 1080p at 20fps. I would have prefered to have the better video capacity but not sure its worth the extra couple of hundred quid difference.

This is great deal!

I have a 550D and it can only do 30fps or 24fps (sweet spot) at 1080p. It can do 50/60fps in 720p mode. It can also work in a cropped zoom mode in 640*480, which is basically a digital zoom - quite handy!

+ 1. Been checking the price on the 550D for ages, its at the 635 mark on amazon but out of stock. Play had it for 600 with 50 cash back (£550) a few months back but missed out on it! - Does anyone think the prices will drop any time soon?

I would avoid Camerabox. Plenty of negative reviews and I think they sell grey imports. And avoid Pixmania too.

Thanks to this thread, I'm looking at the 550D. The video portion is amazing!

i also go for 550d, actually I bought kiss x4 from eBay and it is fine for me as well, quality is brilliant. you can get the set for £598 and they sent from London (you can collect as well to save £9)

the rumoured 60D is to come out in Sept - thats gonna set the prices falling

RTi, didn't you get hit with customs charges for that? If not, I'm amazed and curious!
