Is this so much an improvement over the MkIII?
I have one had a MK III before. It’s not massive I would say

I've been thinking of upgrading from the MKIII, but when you go into some camera shops, they can tell you very little about the MK IV. Especially the differences.

I was in Dubai a few weeks ago and visited the Canon shop in the Dubai Mall. The MK IV was selling cheaper than the MK III.

Clues in the title...It says body only....
Is it 4k or not ? Some of the comments are confusing..

It does have 4k. That's the main reason choose this over the III.

It does 120fps at 1080.

Other improvements are just marginal and not worth an update over the III.

If it has 3 year UK warrantee what is the issue with grey import?
Too cheap even for grey imports. Canon UK has stop servicing grey imports if I'm not mistaken...

If only it had a 18-55 f5.6 included....
Any other full frame cameras in the £1k region? Also, what would be Nikon's equivelant to 5d?
I believe the 4k is a crop of the sensor iirc.
As this is import, cheaper at Panamoz which also has a very good reputation. £2090.

You can pick up the 6d mk2 from eglobal for £1138.99 which is a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Sony A7 is about 1k but old and not great. Maybe an original 6D or Nikon D610 or D750. The Nikon equivalent your looking for is the D850 and is better in almost every way than the 5D MK IV.

How exactly is it better in every way? Doesn't it depend what you are using it for in these Nikon vs Canon arguments?

I'm a Canon fanboi with thousands invested in L lenses, but even I know that the Nikon D850 is the best body out there at the moment.

But why? I need mine for photos of objects and people seem to say go canon for these. Nikon for portraits.

No it doesn't. It does 120fps at 720p.only 60fps at 1080p. Having used a mkii, mkiii and the mkiv I have to say it's a significant upgrade.

The 4 has a great screen, loads of awesome features and the resolution jump of stills is well worth the upgrade.

4k video is annoying with its odd crop but standard video still looks awesome

I'd buy one if I didn't have 3 mkii's, 2 mkiii's and 2 mkiv's lol

You sound like you know your stuff so could you help me with little dilemma, I currently have Alpha A58 sony.co.uk/ele…a58

I shoot in manual and have some experience with DSLRs but never touched a full frame camera. For some reason I feel this urge to get a full frame, real deal camera like 5d or D750, but I won't really use it on daily basis and I only shoot on rare occasions....

Is there really that much of a difference for ordinary photographers between entry level DSLR's and full frame cameras?

Maybe instead of spending big bucks I'll just get the Sony SAL DT 16-50mm f/2.8 SSM for my a58 and save myself a small fortune.

No idea, sorry. But i think that reputation says Canon make better telephoto lenses and Nikon make better wide-angle. They probably tussle it out in the middle. If the objects you're trying to photograph are generally at a distance, then that maybe why people say canon: not because of the body but because of the lenses.

Full frame changes quite a few things. The main thing is that your lenses will be at the correct focal length. A 50mm f1.4 will be 50mm whereas a non full frame will have 1.6 crop on the sensor.

These days there's not as much difference in the look of full and non full frame camera but I personally only use full frame as I just prefer it.

The Sony range are good and I'm hearing good stuff about the the A7 v3.
Had this for 10 months now, upgraded from a Mk2. World of difference, blows the 2 out the water. In low light using higher ISO it's superb.

Can't comment on video as I only use for stills.

I'm not a reviewer but a reader of reviews and if you are interested look at online reviews yourself. But off the top of my head: the Nikon has more pixels, higher dynamic range, better focusing, better viewfinder, crop mode, better video capture and other stuff I can't think of. The only obvious thing in the Canon's favour is the video focussing is markedly better and maybe the lenses if they produce the one you need.

I've seen more than one review that states the D850 is the best SLR ever produced so yes the Nikon is better unless you have invested in lots of nice L lenses then get the 5d MK IV.

Thanks, think I will go for D750... Any places you would recommend? Also is second hand option from ebay worth considering?

It's better in many ways but it's released later, doesn't this always happen - they leepfrog each other?

I did think this did 120fps at 1080 and I was wrong. The 4k crop is a tad annoying, but if you've got canon lenses this is still an amazing camera.

I'd just go for a new 'grey' as it will be probably cheaper than second hand with no warranty. Portus excellent with a 3 year warranty. E-Infinty also good, cheaper, but only 1 year warranty
