It's not cheap by any means but at the risk of getting flamed this is the cheapest I've seen the Canon 7D.

Damn you, Jeeves!

My D70 is in desparate need of upgrading. I'm waiting for a cashback offer on the D7000 before taking the plunge. Tried one out last weekend - amazing camera.

I guess it all depends on what glass you've got or if you're starting from scratch. If the latter, I'd definitely go D7000.

If you were starting from scratch why would you want to buy into the overpriced Nikon lens system?

It's been hovering around the £1100 or slightly more for most of the year. I got a great Hotdeals deal with mine - with a free 580EX in January from Wilkinson Cameras wilkinson.co.uk/

bought mine off amazon with the kit lens . plan is to sell the lens for around £160 . don't need this lens as I have the 35mm prime and the 16-85mm which are both fantastic. had a d300s before this but tested the d7000 at jessops and was stunned at the low light performance of the d7000, almost as good as my d700. with the d300s I can maybe push the iso to 800 max then the noise begins to creep in whereas with the d7000 hardly any visible noise at 1600. I believe tis camera will be ok for beginners too ad it does have the scene modes.

These are the cheapest prices as per CPB. I picked lenses at random but it shows that Nikon is cheaper for some and more expensive on others. Some are very similar. OK, I'm not comparing apples with apples on all of them but I disagree with what you wrote.

Nikon 50mm f1.4 £288
Canon 50mm f1.4 £270

Nikon 35mm f1.8 £160
Canon 35mm f2 £200

Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 £896
Canon 17-55mm f2.8 £675

Nikon 16-85mm f3.5-5.6 £375
Canon 15-85mm f3.5-5.6 £520

Nikon 85mm f1.8 £299
Canon 85mm f1.8 £297

lol you pretty much touched the tip of the iceberg with canons lenses there and basically exhausted nikons... I rest my case.

You are right the Nikons are not generally more expensive but you are more limited than the Canon range which is why I went Canon years ago.

anygood? im looking @ getting just after xmas before the VAT rise. always been a nikon fanboy. where you get it from?

amazon , they had the body and kit for around £1147 . will be getting it delivered tomorrow. as said had a play around at jessops for around 15 mins trying different lenses. the only thing the canon has over the d7000 is the build as that is all magnesium alloy, saying that the d7000 feels almost as well built as my d700 but lighter. quality of pics with the d7000 to my eyes look just like those from the d700!!!!. buy it. the good thing about buying off amazon is that if they drop the price in the next 30 days they will refund you the difference. also their returns have been upgraded till new year because of chrismas

Cheaper now at £1,070.91

I guys and gals, is the 7D off Amazon UK stock or grey imports?
