excellent camera

yep, bats well above its price, slap on the the 22mm f2 STM and and you have an amazing snapper in such a small form.

Original Poster

i purchased this and the 22mm and it fits it my pocket perfectly - great back up for a DSLR

....uhhh....ummmmm....stock?

No stock near me (40 miles) Manchester

Amazing price for a decent camera. Not the best mirror less but best value at this price

Skegness and Grimsby both have them in

Very little money for a lot of camera. I bought this from Argos when it was £199.00 and thought it a real bargain then. At this price it's a steal.

argos.co.uk/m/s…htm

Black/grey seems pretty much oos, but if you don't mind it in red there's far more around?! Been annoyed over missing out on it last time, but thanks op! Heat added!!

If you have a lloyds bank account 8% cash back on all purchases using your debit card if you activate it in the everyday offers section online in your online banking

Isn't the lloyds 8% thing only from certain stores if you activate them? I don't see an Argos one?!

I've reserved one at Argos Glasgow Braehead but I dont want it now. PM me if you want the reservation number.

Canon make brilliant cameras. Hot from me.

Bought one when these were regularly on HUKD a few months back. Great camera but the delay between shots does do my head in! I think it has been said this isn't one for sport photography! Got the Tamron 18-200 from Amazon French site which gives huge range for a walkabout camera. Currently £339 on UK site Euro 298 (silver version)

this is a great camera and also good price, I got mine at £150 last year in sale at curries and I love it and I call mine my "little beast" you can get a variety of lens and get very good ful hd videos, this got me interested in photography, I was in Japan earlier in the year and went to a photography club for a day out with them around tokyo the eos m1 was my main camera, didn't feel out of place although others had larger eos and nikon dslr's on a side note managed to get the newer eos m3 and evf for £289, I was extatic considering that eos m3 has been released in the uk for £599 and evf for a separate £250, I still use my m1 a lot and if I am going out and about I take it out with then 22mm lens rather than my newer eos m3 which I am still very protective of at the moment.

no stock near me.

These are great portrait and landscape cameras, especially in good light. Not the fastest AF in the world but perfectly adequate. Excellent touchscreen, with intuitive controls. Installing Magic Lantern improves the M massively.
The 22mm and the 11-22mm lenses are utterly awesome.

**** sake I just bought it on Saturday from Argos for 199.99.

EDIT: It's only the coloured ones which have been reduced, the black one is still £179.99

heat added anyway, I've no idea what I'm doing with it but it looks a cracking piece of kit.

Aye, mis-type sorry.

Is this the same kit lense they provide with dslr's?

If so, I got this with my 70d! Just shows how little it's worth

We've got a baby on the way and after a camera for taking "cute baby photos" - any feedback on if this camera will be good for this? (Voted hot btw!)

You're best asking this question on a photography forum. IMO, you can do that on your mobile phone.

Our girl has just turned 15 months, the biggest problem you'll find is trying to keep them still long enough to take a photo, regardless of camera type. To be honest, for the first few months I'd just have your phone camera to hand, because you'll be hands full enough with baby anyway,

The EOS M uses EF-M lenses.

This camera is a little weak at focussing, but for anything other than sports/fast moving objects provides excellent pictures. £180 for a camera with lens that produces D-SLR quality images is a steal.

to the people saying its excellent- do a better research this is probably one of the worst camera of this type, just do your research before buying it!
and btw it was 189 at argos around x-mas already when was looking for this type of camera, Hardly a deal!

Did my research before buying, it was around $800 originally, and most of the initial gripes were ironed out in the v2 firmware.

Surely a better deal than the Samsung equivalent for around the same price that only started out life at £250?

Apologies for quoting Wikipedia but I'm in a rush, and apparently the GBP RRP was over £700 too - en.wikipedia.org/wik…S_M

or you can just pay a bit extra and get something like d3200 which goes for only a few quid more ,but the picture quality can't even be compared. got mine around the xmas when argos had a glitch for 199 + 20nikon cashback.

I have also got a camera like this eos m , from sony nex range but to be honest I would rather have the d3200 because the size isnt that much different at all!
also if you think this will produce dslr quality like pics you are a bit mislead , well maybe you can compare it to some ~5-6year old dslr , granted it will take excellent shots but still something like d3200 which is in same price range now almost will beat it in picture quality.

I am a professional videographer and used one of these for a while with the eos adapter and a 50mm 1.4 lens with great results. it got stolen on holiday in Rome and I use a 70d now but would love to get another one if there was stock. the video quality on the two cameras is the same except the 70d cost 4x as much.

Firstly, I don't pretend to know much about photography, so excuse any ignorance on my part.

But, from a simple facts perspective, on paper the D3200 is bulkier, is a DSLR rather than a mirrorless, and at current market rates, costs more. I didn't want a DSLR, I wanted a mirrorless camera.

Most sites I read when I was doing my research cite the EOS-M's 18-55 as one of the best kit lenses around. I'm also looking on eBay for the 22mm, which is going for around £60. £240 for all that kit is a steal.

the thing is once you have used both you will realize they are almost the same size/same bulkiness even its marketed as something super small/compact
if you dont want a bulky camera that still shoots great pics than something like this but with a pancake lens is the best thing ever tho.

My next camera WILL be something like this probably sony alpha 6000 just because I dont like the DSLR size as well, but... this Canon eos M thing isn't exactly a compact camera so might as well just get a proper dslr for almost the same price.

Edited by: "229mel" 10th Jul 2015

The D3200 is MUCH bigger than this and is never pocketable, this you have the option of being small or larger with larger lenses so have a choice. That choice isn't there on a DSLR.

Also, this camera was transformed with firmware version 2 and made it a much better buy. The price of this unit is phenomenal for the quality which far surpasses any camera phone out there.

Yes it's still not the fastest focus out there however for a still baby (first 3 months) this is perfect for high quality shots. Cameraphone will not do the same job at all especially in low light.

The Lloyds 8% is for any Argos store if the offer is in your everyday offers section and definitely works on this item.

I would like to state i do not own this camera as i am personally a Sony a6000 user however for this money there is no better quality picture taking machine on the planet with this ability, range of lens availability and functionality.

By far the best performance per pound deal in the photography market at the minute.

why would u even want to start to compare a camera like this to some phone camera....They are not even in the same class, that camera obviously is really decent but value for money you can find something much better..
So how is your a6000?

Bodies only...

D3200 - 95 x 125 x 76.5 mm (H x W x D) - 498g inc memory card and battery

EOS-M - 66.5 x 108.6 x 32.3 mm - 300g inc memory card and battery

Neither are pocketable, but that's a massive difference. Also from the likes of Jessops, Currys etc. the D3200 is £270, which is 50% more than this deal.

EOS M very disappointing, when first released very expensive.
At the price though it's a bargain

My local Currys has the Panasonic G6 with kit lens for £199.97.
Clearance so maybe a few out there...

22mm lens Bit pricey though £150 on Amazon unless can be found cheaper I only paid £150 for my EOS-M

also consider sony A5000 (refurbished) for the same price outlet.sony.co.uk/sho…C.A

Should focus a bit faster
