Better way to spend £340 than the cheap plastic outdated 4000d..
Is this better in comparison to the Sony A6000?
someone bought 10, must be a good camera.
Very good price for a good camera
Am I missing something or is this in some way different to the standard M6 that Argos is selling for much more money?

I think that's the newer model. This is the Mark 1 effectively.

What does this add please? Better faster autofocus with same lens? Thanks.

It's an adaptor.

You can use EFS lenses with it, which are cheaper than EFM ones.

No. A6000 has faster fps and evf.
No 4k video?

Got ya! A quick comparison sees the MK2 with a 32.5 MP sensor using the digic 8 processor, 4k video, 143 focus points vs 49, longer battery life & double the shooting speed of 14fps. So quite some improvement.

Yep, you are right, a spare of the moment thought.
This is a fantastic price for this camera. I bought mine in mint used condition for £290 (150 shots taken). I’ve previously had the M and the M3. The lens is nice for portrait and street photography. By using the EF lens adaptor you get access to a wide range of lenses.
Is anyone in the know to tell me if that would be massive improvement vs Sony nex 3 especially at low light please? Thanks

I did have the Somy Nex3 prior to moving over to the Canon m cameras. I never use the flash indoor and the photos generally come out fine on the M6.
This is an indoor photo I took the other day in Aperture Priority mode without flash.

Would you recommend the move for someone like me who does not know much about photography and most of photos are shot in auto mode?

It’s easier to change between modes and exposure with the Canon and there will be more lenses available to you if you want to move beyond how you take photos now. If you are happy with how you use your camera then I wouldn’t bother the Nex3 takes great photos as a point and shoot, the photos are sharp and the shutter is quick. I moved from it as the lenses were expensive at the time, I found it frustrating trying to quickly change between modes and wanted something with more manual control.

I know my daughter was considering buying this. Don't know if she ended up getting one or not. As she remarked, they are £330 second hand (CEX).
Out of interest, I take it this is a worthwhile upgrade from the original EOS-M? I've barely used it and it's been sat in its case for at least the last two years but the main issues I remember were a slow shutter response and that video was capped at 1/2 an hour?

All European cameras are capped at 29.59 minutes for video due to an EU tax law. Anything over means the camera would cost even more. However it has been rumoured that if you format your storage card in windows instead of letting the camera do it you break this barrier.

Ah OK, interesting to know. Presumably that's some jaffa-cakes esque legislation as to whether it's a camera or camcorder then?(biscuit/cake) I think it's been that many years since I've used it, it's still only got an 8GB SD card so don't know if it can even hit half an hour in RAW lol.

I did a quick search earlier and apparently using Magic Lantern forces it to start re-recording straight away so you lose a few frames at 29:59 but that's it. Supposedly it can also shoot 2.5k in RAW which seems pretty decent for something that old.

That sure is. I do believe the tax law has now changed but since we are going to have our own tax laws soon who knows what will will happen.
Interesting what you say about magic lantern. Just looking at buying my 1st video capable camera. However if it takes up that much memory I think will need to stock up on cheaper storage cards for this function!
My phones got a 40MP camera so what's the point in this? Cold sorry

Bear in mind you need to factor in another £200 for a viewfinder (electronic) to go on the hotshot which is something most serious photographers would need. And then you cannot simultaneous use an external flash.

Thinking I will stick with my EOS 200D.
