Just to add a question to the above.

I have read reviews and image quality seems as good as a Canon Hv20 only problem for me in getting this is i have heard editing is really hard with the DVD format.

i have Final cut pro and wanted to experiment with editing. Any advice?

Limited?? please could you explain in what way thanks

At top quality recording you pobably only get 20 mins on a disk. But this is the cheapest price for quality HD.

I Managed to track one of these down at the livingston Branch (couldnt find one elsewhere in central scotland) and have been extrmeely impressed with it. Great Sound, excellent picture quality and even better JVC dvd-rw are available for a quid each at poundland!!! Bargain.

The fact you only get 12-15 mins on max hd recording isnt really an issue as its mainly for shooting a few minutes of the kids ata time - but compared to the SD card based "HD" pracktica one I got from littlewoods (from a post on HUKD of course!) for my dad this canon is a lot lot better . The main thing is the quality fo the optics and the rapid autofocus and excellent quality in low light situations. I suppose this is much the same as for ordinary cameras - a 10 mega pixel kodax for £100 wont take as good a picture as the nikon d70s (another HDUK bargain!..... just saving the economy one bargain at a time!) i got even though thats only 6mp because its all to do with the sensor and optics etc.

I havent tried the software for editing yet and am hoping onbaird software will do the trick. It records in AVCHD which (and Im no techie) is a pretty standard format i think.

Anyway for someone who wants great recordings now for a couple of hundred quid and cant wait probably at leats a year for the SD version to come down to these prices (which may never happen) then I would recommend it. Just have plenty of pre-formatted DVD-rw's to hand!:)
