Amazon are doing this camera at a sale price.
I couldn't believe it when i saw it when i was browsing for a new Ixus.
This camera is normally £200, argos doing it for £180 on sale. Amazon have it for £195 but if you get the blue one it is £139.99!! leaving you enough dosh to buy an 8gb class 6 sd card.

(if you do buy this camera make sure you do get a sandisk extreme or similar as hd video needs at least class 6 sd card to work properly)

Anyway mine should be here early next week, just thought i'd let someone camera shopping know.

OK, admittedly not the same camera - though there is also the SX120 you can get from Amazon - £152 (and then a £20 cashback until Tuesday). amazon.co.uk/Can…1IW
Makes this £132.... - so worth considering too!

So how does this compare to the Panasonic TZ7?

I'm particularly thinking about reliability/build quality. I was going to get the Panasonic but the number of Amazon reviews citing cracked screens, etc makes me think the 5 year extended guarantee/accidental damage cover is essential.

look good - so which is best.... powershot sx120 or the OP's ixus 110 blue ????

We have both the ixus110is and the sx110is (previous model to the sx120is). Both cameras are good, and I do not think you will be disappointed with either. They are very different cameras to use.

Ixus110is - small, lithium battery, good pictures, HD movie recording, very quick to startup
sx120is - significantly bigger, no HD, fantastic zoom range, fantastic pictures.

Get yourself down to Jessops and try out both for size, comfort etc.

yeh that is a good deal. I'm still glad i went for the ixus 110 though as i have just sold a big camera (canon s5 is) to get a pocket sized one and the sx120 looks a bit big for what i need it for (point and shoot mostly)

The sx120 doesn't do high def videos,no wide angle lens,
bad things about the 110 are that because it's a wide screen on the back when you take normal pictures or normal video it will have black bars on the left and right of the screen to make it 4:3, and i'm not sure how i'll get on with the wheel instead of buttons, but for £139.99 which is the same as a canon 95 is in argos etc. the 110 is a lot better imo as it has a lot more feautures.. and a hdmi out to your tv to view those hd movies and widescreen images (but you need to buy a cable for £5 though;-))

Depends on your requirements, if you want something that you can stick in your pocket that has a wide angle lens and high def movie recording, go for this. If you don't mind a slightly larger camera with a good telephoto lens (but without the wide angle) and standard def movie recording the SX120 could be the one to go for.

I have the 110is, which I got from Play when it was 149.99 with a free Canon case and it's a good camera. I mainly use it for family pictures and movies but I also have the 350D SLR so I don't have to worry if I need a high telephoto zoom shot. My last 2 compact cameras have had a 28mm zoom lens and that would be the minimum wide angle capacity I would go for in a camera next time I purchase one, as I find the wide angle is much more useful than a high zoom, plus with high mega pixel cameras you can use cropping to zoom in (within certain limits of course!)

£149.99 with a canon case was a good deal:thumbsup:

Your deal link did (not another site - another Amazon seller) this morning. The Amazon price HAD gone up to £217.64, but as you point out it is now back to £139.99.

Deal needs to be unexpired. I never normally expire these threads, but I really thought it was game over in this case. Sorry! I have screen grabs if you don't believe me!

Still not sure whether to go for this myself. Had a look at this camera when another deals was posted for it a while back. Only negative was that I read that the menu system was a bit clunky to navigate.

Any owners care to comment?

Cheers

SirHugo

PS I've emailed a Mod to un-expire this

Is clicking sound while focussing normal?please help ASAP so i can decide whether to return the product?

Sounds like the lens adjusting to light, i had a Canon years ago and im sure you could hear it click
