Found 3rd May 2013
Great little metal bodied camera. Just dropped another £20 to an all time low of £79.99. All colours available.

I own the the 240 HS - same specs (+ touch screen and WiFi). Takes great lowlight pics - very little noise at 400/800 iso.

Beautiful slim metal body with 24mm, 5x zoom
HS System: 16.1 MP CMOS and DIGIC 5
Intelligent IS
7.5 cm (3.0") PureColor II G LCD
Full HD movies (1080p)
Smart Auto (58 scenes)
Face ID
High-speed shooting
Movie Digest (720p)

There shouldn't be anything in it - same specs, same sensor & same lens. Just depends if you have a preference for the touchscreen LCD or Wifi

If Oceanic really meant the SX240 as they said then the cameras are actually very different; the SX240 is not the same as the IXUS 240.

I couldn't find any review sites with matching images from the IXUS 125HS and the Powershot SX240HS - from reviews they seem to score the SX240 better on image quality.
Although it's by no means a definitive proof, you'd think Canon would fit a better sensor on their more expensive cameras; the IXUS 125 and IXUS 240 have a 16mp sensor while the more expensive models in the IXUS range had 12.1mp sensors just like the SX240HS.

Yes, you are absolutely correct wombat6025. I assumed (probably incorrectly) that oceanic was referring to the ixus 240 HS, which is the camera that I own and mentioned in the deal post. The SX240 is a 'travel zoom' camera equivalent to the Lumix TZ series.

Tempted but I'm a Olympus fan, they're better.

thanks

Great deal

Funny it shows as lowest price ever.... bought this at the same price on a black friday deal and Canon were offering £25 cashback at the time

Olympus make really good camera's but at this price for a Canon classic you can't go wrong

Surprised this isn't a bit hotter. A deal posted 2 months ago for the same camera reached 347 degrees even though it was £20 more expensive at the time Also surprised it's still on at Amazon @ £79.99

Same spec as the 240 HS... except the long zoom! (_;);)

Been looking for a new pocket digi cam to replace my old Canon Ixus 70 and did consider this one, but only 5 x optical zoom isn't great. It's been this price for a while on Amazon.

Tempted with the Nikon S8000 which has 10 x optical zoom, but still undecided!

Great bit of googling there

The 12.1mp sensor is better than the 16mp one. More tightly packed pixels = more interference between them.

Would this be a good camera to buy within a £100.00 budget max? The uses are pictures and movies here an there for family reunions etc, wedding pictures

Thanks for the help in advance

Really want the Canon IXUS 240 HS but lowest is £109.99 from Amazon, like i said £100 max out really want lower than that initially

I'm saying I'm getting the same issue, can't get it to add free to the basket

I have this camera. Paid £100 a few months ago and I love it. Automatically best mode selection - really easy up load and really smart looking. Fab price.

Why would the case be free? nolanj7 is on crack oO

Ordered. Thanks!

No doubt a good deal and camera but for a bit more cash this one has better zoom plus a sd card i am really blown away by this cameras quality images due to the cmos sensor.
Apples and oranges but still a good deal.

The touchscreen/wifi ixus 240HS has just dropped to £99.99 on Amazon for those who'd prefer this option
