Didnt think this was such a bad price for a good branded ultra compact camera with HD movie compatibility, although i will let the masses decide!

3x optical zoom is a bit poo by todays standards, might be a dealbreaker for some.

The dealbreaker for me is the 2.5 lcd screen
Canon are makers of higher quality stuff, however.

Was on sale a while back at £130 and was a great buy at that price. Will be hard to find now but cracking buy if you can find one.

The RRP was about £300 if Amazon is to be believed. This is is priced at the dreaded .97.
Fantastic camera, the further x3 digital zoom beyond the x3 optical is quite good but x3 or x4 is all you can expect in an ultra compact the size of a credit card, there simply isn't any room for more lens ;p

3x zoom is very reasonable. Anything over 4x max is simply sacrificing image quality for big numbers in the tiny lenses found in compact cameras..

I got one a while back. I compared to others in store, some more ££ some less, but got this because it felt so sturdy. All metal and rounded corners it feels so nice and slips in a pocket easily.
I think you will be lucky to find one though.
Will need a mini hdmi cable, but worth it for the slide show on a big tv.

Those bemoaning the 3x zoom and 2.5" screen this camera is TINY and top quality! I'm a big canon man myself and the 100 is one of the best in the Ixus range... I have one :-)

I bought this recently on the Amazon deal...........If you find one, don't hesitate! Brilliant little camera.

This is a great little camera, especially on nights out as it easily slips into a pocket. My only issue with it has been that it's easily scratched leaving the silver body exposed which looks pretty bad on the otherwise black coating.

Canon are doing cashback on some of their cameras over Christmas.

Heat from me , Bargain , though dont need one .........

Just a note that the HD mode is 720p and not 1080p but still fantastic value. Very sleek looking too.

I still have and use my IXUS 60 and the quality is amazing.

Good price. I bought one for 150+ during easter. Excellent camera - did not like the black colour though.

I vote hot on this. I purchased on sale before Xmas last year and paid over 160. A guy got one for a leaving present few months before that and it was over £220. Newer model replaced this, greater zoom and wider lens, apparently better taking pictures in auto mode but at the time I could not justify paying more for the newer model. 99 quid great fir a throw in the pocket camera especially being a canon

Which? do not consider it a 'best buy' and say it has poor image stabilisation.

Anyone here had any problems with image stabilisation?

.

What are the Which? best buys?

What are the Which? best buys?

there are too many to list but the top 5 scorers are

Nikon Coolpix L110
Leica V Lux 20
Panasonic Lumix DMC - TZ8
Canon Ixus 300HS
Nikon Coolpix S8000

I got this a few months ago for 120 on amazon. The picture quality in normal light is fab, not so good in a club but still great for the price. I have no idea what it is called but when u press the button to take a pic sometimes it is abit slow to actually take it? but still I deal with it and enjoy using the camera. It is a good size too!

Nikon Coolpix L110 - £160
Leica V Lux 20 - £465
Panasonic Lumix DMC - TZ8 - £179
Canon Ixus 300HS - £225
Nikon Coolpix S8000 - £165

Pound for pound this is a smoking deal if, like others have said, you can find one!

the chances of anyone being able to find one are slim. its a .97 price ie end of stock.

Buy this. I got it on Play.com a wee while ago for the same price, the video qwalitee is qwalitee.

You don't see many compact cameras with a view finder!

your right but quite often these .97 finds go mega hot. There was a camera not so long ago where someone called every branch within 100 miles of his house and found 0 cameras at that price. think it was 20+ branches.

Has anyone other than the OP bought one at this price?

I got this last summer for £150+ and it's an awesome little camera, It's taken quite a beating and still works perfectly.

Those were my thoughts too.

out of stock online so I am guessing they only have a hadfull kicking around in the shops, I shall check PC World tonight as my local Currys shut down a while back.
Hot hot hot if I can get my hands on one

Looks interesting to me ... I've got a Canon SX10 which is my main camera but I've been lookin for a good deal on something "pocketable" to take when the SX10 is going to be too big. Plus, I'm still a fan of "proper" viewfinders (it was with some trepidation that I got the SX10 with its EVF ... I think I'd been put off by taking a couple of photos 10 years ago with someone else's camera which had an EVF back in the days where you could almost see every pixel! .... current gen EVF as in SX10 turned out to be great!)

oops, just read a review which says optical viewfinder is essentially useless if you wear glasses as its so small.

It's true that it's too small for practical use but having it there means that you can turn off the "live view" screen, thus saving you precious battery life if you were running low.
Having a photo that isn't perfectly composed is better than not having one at all.

I would totally buy this if I hadn't had purchased a 550D last week.

Can this be hooked up to a computer and used as a webcam?
